~ Drolta as she is about to betray Erzsebet. |
Drolta Tzuentes is the main antagonist of Netflix's 2023 dark fantasy series, Castlevania Nocturne, a sequel/spin-off of Castlevania: the Animated Series, an adaptation of the video game franchise by Konami.
She is the dark emissary for the Cult of Sekhmet and representative of Erzsebet Bathory, also known as the "Vampire Messiah." Like Erzsebet, Drolta seeks to conquer the world by blocking out the sun for all vampires while bringing in many allies to join her with most being vampires. Despite this, Drolta turns out to be the one pulling the strings as she was the one who turned Erzsebet into a vampire and groomed her into becoming the ideal vessel of the Egyptian goddess, Sekhmet.
She was voiced by Elarica Johnson in the English dub and Mayumi Sako in Japanese dub.
Her Evil Ranking[]
What Makes Her Close To Pure Evil?[]
Background[]
- Despite wanting to revive the worship of Sekhmet, Drolta turned her religion into a vampiric cult while only worshiping the war aspect of her deity. She would have her followers drink the blood of Sekhmet so they can turn into a vessel for Sekhmet's power, this resulted in them dying due to not being suitable hosts.
- Drolta selected the infamous Hungarian aristocrat, Countess Erzsebet Bathory, to be Sekhmet's host and transformed her into a vampire. She had Erzsebet consume Sekhmet's blood for years so she can become a strong host. Due to this, Drolta is entirely responsible for Erzsebet's crimes throughout the series while also manipulating Erzsebet to be the perfect host.
- To make it worse, Drolta is aware of Erzsebet Bathory's status as a serial killer and called her "the most evil woman in the world", yet she selected her anyway.
- Drolta was heavily involved with Erzsebet's crimes throughout the years and would help massacre an entire village or other human settlements. She would also kidnap young women and bring them to Erzsebet so she can torture them for her sadistic pleasure while turning them into vampires, this also includes young girls as well. One settlement she attacked was filled with Speakers and Tera's sister was caught in the crossfire by being kidnapped and taken to Erzsebet, this would result in Tera killing her sister out of mercy after finding out that she was turned into a vampire.
Castlevania Nocturne[]
- Drolta and Erzsebet plan on bringing an eternal eclipse so vampires can walk through the day and succussfully conquer the world. They would also gain allies around the world to help them in their campaign.
- While heading to see the Marquis so she can be introduce to Abbot Emmanuel, she kills two members of the French Revolution for no reason other then sadism. She would then kill another one and takes his house for herself while using his daughter as a gift for Erzsebet.
- Once Erzsebet arrives to France, Drolta gives the terrified young women to Erzsebet, who sucks on her blood a few times then later on, had her turned into a vampire.
- She attacks Tera, Maria, and Annette in the church's basement but in one moment attempts to kill Maria, a 16 year old, until Emmanuel stopped her from doing so. After the fight ended, Drolta demands Emmanuel to make more night creatures.
- Despite holding up a funeral for the Marquis, Drolta holds no care for him at all and only liked his loyalty. She also shows no sympathy to Marchioness for losing her husband and found her grievances annoying.
- After spotting Emmanuel and Maria speaking to each other, Drolta suspected Maria is Emmanuel's daughter so she suggested to Erzsebet to have Emmanuel sacrifice her as to secure his loyalty. This action would lead to Maria being traumatized of nearly being killed by her own father and Emmanuel being upset of nearly committing the action, not only that but Emmanuel was then killed by Maria as a result of Drolta and Erzsebet commanding him to sacrifice his daughter.
- She demanded Olrox to bow before Erzsebet even though he did not want to.
- Drolta and her followers attack the heroes in Emmanuel's church with Drolta specifically targeting Richter Belmont. During the fight, she mocks him for running away from Olrox.
- She ignored Emmanuel's pleas of letting the heroes go and tells him that they are part of the revolution for that they must die. So she gathered some followers to attack the heroes right before she was killed by Alucard.
- Despite being brought back as a night creature, Drolta still kept all of her moral agency and openly mocks Emmanuel by saying that she only has one master. Afterwards, Drolta kills an army of the French National Guard and send their bodies to Emmanuel as to create more night creatures.
- Drolta would have Olrox forcefully branded with Sekhmet's symbol as to show him where his true loyalties lie but mainly did this because she was suspicious of Olrox due to not knowing where he has been most of the time.
- She led a team of vampires to follow where Alucard, Richter, and Annette were heading as to find the body of Sekhmet. Drolta and her team fought against the heroes over the body but she successfully captured the corpse and gives it to Erzsebet so she can increase her powers by consuming the body's heart, this led to another eclipse to happen.
- Despite saving an injured Erzsebet, Drolta kills her out of disappointment because Erzsebet turns out to not be the worthy host she wanted. By killing her, Drolta takes her powers and proclaims herself as Sekhmet. This shows that Drolta never cared for Erzsebet at all and only viewed her as a pawn for her plans.
- In her final moments, Drolta attempted to kill the remaining heroes all by herself so she can achieve her plans for world domination.
What Prevents Her From Being Pure Evil?[]
- Drolta has a tragic backstory where in the past, she was a friendly priestess of Sekhmet and trying to help her people survive through a famine until one day the tomb they were residing in was invaded by vampiric raiders. The raiders slaughtered many of Drolta's people and she was knocked out during the action. She was so horrified by the massacre of her people, she prayed to Sekhmet for strength so she can protect herself from other threats until she discovers a lone vampire eating from the corpses. After defeating the vampire by impaling him, Drolta has come to believe that the vampire is answer to her prayers and concluded that by drinking his blood she can become a vampire as well and through it can revive the worship of her goddess. She decapitates the vampire and preserved his blood for future worshipers.
- She is genuinely loyal to her goddess, Sekhmet, since Drolta did everything for the sake of her deity and thought that her actions is what Sekhmet wanted while appearing upset that her goddess confronts her and tells her that she did not desire anything she was doing.
