Dr. Ovi Kintobor, later known as Dr. Ivo Robotnik, is the main antagonist of the now-discontinued British comic series Sonic the Comic published by Fleetway Editions, and it's online continuation Sonic the Comic Online!
Born from the negative energy on Mobius that Dr. Kintobor collected, Robotnik is a power-hungry evil scientist who seeks to take over Mobius then Earth. He is the archenemy of Sonic the Hedgehog.
His Evil Ranking[]
What Makes Him Close to Being Pure Evil?[]
In General[]
- While it could be argued he suffers from moral agency issues due to being born evil from an accident involving Chaos Energy, it's heavily implied in the Christmas story in issue 93 that Robotnik is evil because he chooses to be, as he refuses the offer Father Christmas gave him to stop his satellite and boasts about how much he loves being evil.
- He has no care for his right-hand Grimer, refusing to help him when the latter asks if he has a way to stop Chaos in its rampage.
- Although he has many comedic moments, his depravity and nihilism overshadow such moments and he is still taken seriously, as other characters see him as a threat. Plus some of it show how twisted and evil he is.
- While him lamenting that he has no friends on Christmas Day may make him somewhat sympathetic and insecure, this is nullified due to his actions in later issues, as he grows nihilistic and shows no sign of such insecurities, with nothing indicating that he still wants to have friends.
- While he occasionally teamed up with Sonic and his friends against other threats, it doesn't make him On & Off, as those alliances were pragmatic and would betray them if he feels like it.
- He is one of the most evil incarnations of Robotnik due to his actions.
Sonic the Comic[]
- After he was born from the lab accident, he tried to kill Sonic and schemed to take over Mobius for his liking.
- Since the comic treats the events of the first two Sonic the Hedgehog games as canon, he likely committed all the same crimes as his main series counterpart did in said games.
- He forced Omni-Viewer to transport Sonic and his friends into the future, allowing him to take over the planet in their absense.
- He ruled Mobius with an iron fist, terrorizing its populace and crushing any resistance.
- He converted many animals on Mobius into Badniks, using them as power sources for his robots. He would also drop Badniks who failed him into lava, in order to create better ones.
- Tried to destroy Emerald Hill Zone and its inhabitants multiple times.
- Invaded and terraformed Miracle Planet.
- After crash-landing on the Floating Island, he tricked its guardian, Knuckles the Echidna, into thinking that Sonic and the Freedom Fighters were villains so that he would assist him.
- He teamed up with Dr. Zachary to take over the Floating Island, while turning its denizens into the organic components of a vast supercomputer.
- After being overthrown, he continued to hinder Mobians' lives in an attempt to reconquer the planet one day.
- He and Grimer joined forces with the Drakon Empire to steal the Chaos Emeralds, but would then backstab them and seize the gems for themselves. Robotnik used the Emeralds to become omnipotent and alter reality in various ways:
- First, he transported Sonic into a reality where he never existed. As a result, Mobius was a polluted wasteland still under Robotnik's rule, Porker Lewis never became a hero and instead served Robotnik, and Tails was never saved from drowning in the swamp;
- He would then wind the time 65 years into the future, where Mobians were still oppressed by him, and Sonic had grown old and weak, still no closer to defeating Robotnik than before;
- His tampering with reality also resulted in the Special Zone falling under his control, as the Chaotix was never formed.
- After being depowered by Knuckles, he shrank to a subatomic size and wound up on the microscopic world of Shanazar, where he transformed back into Kintobor due to having been drained of Chaos Energy. After regaining control of his body, however, Robotnik threw away the potion Kintobor intended to use to stave off his return.
- Although he joined forces with Sonic in order to save the children who were to be possessed by the genies, he didn't do it with selfless intent, as once everyone escaped them, he offered the genies to bring them more children, though they declined his offer.
- He merged Shanazar and Mobius by enlarging the former, intending to create chaos on the resulting merged world and rule over what remained standing once the dust settled.
- After being tired of Sonic hindering his plans, he decided to destroy Mobius and Earth by draining their life energy with assistance from the Plax, which would turn both planets into lifeless husks. This even prompted Grimer, his right-hand, to join Sonic's side to stop him from destroying the planet.
- Despite working with the Plax, who worshipped him as the "Great Destroyer", he secretly planned to kill them as well. When they discovered his ruse and renounced him, he wiped them all out.
- He allowed Chaos to destroy Mobius by destroying the remote that could stop him due to growing completely nihilistic due to his previous defeats at the hands of Sonic and the Freedom Fighters.
Sonic the Comic Online![]
- He joined Dr. Zachary's Syndicate when the latter broke him out of an asylum, helping him in his plan to destroy Mobius once again.
- After finding himself as a pawn to the Drakon Empire, Robotnik took the opportunity to help them in their conquest of Mobius.
- After breaking out of the Drakons' control, he uploaded his conciousness into their systems as a virus, which ended up crashing it and letting their enemies capture the Empire's leadership, not out of selflessness, but as payback for controlling him.
- He and Vermin tried to capture Sonic and use his Chaos Energy to sustain himself before he could turn back into Kintobor.
- After coming back, he agreed to save Mobius from being destroyed by Chaos Tap's energy, but only if Sonic let him rule the Zone surrounding the Egg Bastion for a year, threatening to let the planet be destroyed if the deal is broken. It's also made clear that he only did it so he could use said energy for his own benefit and plot his arch-enemy's demise in the process.
- He, Grimer and Super Sonic teamed up for one final attempt to destroy Sonic and the Freedom Fighters, during which Robotnik damaged the device he believed was meant to cure the weakened Sonic.
- His redemption is not a genuine one, as he is only drained of all negative energy by Porker and turned back into Kintobor as a result.
What Prevents Him from Being Pure Evil?[]
- He slightly fails the Heinous Standards due to being too pragmatic, as he once had godlike powers that would've let him destroy the universe yet he didn't, therefore he pales in comparison to villains who actually tried to destroy the universe, such as the Time Waster, Dr. Zachary, Emperor Metallix and Vichama.
