What Makes Him Close to Being Pure Evil?[]
Background/In General[]
- At a young age, he killed several animals and lit a fire in his parent's basement, which gets him left to adoption, not because he was unloved, but because he would be a danger to their newly born daughter, Nellie. This also turns him misogynistic and influences him to start raping and murdering women.
- He met his fiancé, Susie Frain when she was a freshman and, in the meanwhile, went to a medical school university, meaning he was around 16-18, which means he is an arguable pedophile.
- It was mentioned by Carl Rudnick that Yates was always jealous of him, his job position, and his girlfriend, although, it could be a lie, knowing Greg, its likely to be true.
- Through the years of 1995-2014, he raped and murdered 12 women with methods such as neck snapping and bludgeoning, even burying the bodies or setting them on fire postmortem, one such victim, Gillian hale, was pregnant at the time, making him a feticidal killer as well, something he admitted to have enjoyed.
- Over the course of the story, he taunts several of the Chicago department members by talking about his crimes and enjoying when they inflict pain on him in anger for his repulsive actions.
- Whenever he sees the aftermath of his victims, even their remains or ways of death, he shows his insane sadism by rolling his eyes and basically having a physical orgasm.
- Despite the high heinous standard of Law & Order, he easily passes it with 26+ murders and his major personal villainy to the Chicago P.D. characters and SVU main characters.
Chicago P.D & Special Victims Unit[]
- In 2015, he claimed more victims, these include but are not limited to:
- Raping and beating Victoria Lewyn before fracturing her skull and killing her by setting her on fire.
- Did the same M.O to another woman but instead she died instantly.
- Kidnaps Nadia Decotis where he proceeds to rape her, sodomize her, cut her breasts, bludgeon her repeatability, and strangle her to death.
- Charming his way into an apartment, he rapes and kills a woman and puts the other inhabitant in a coma after raping her, beating her, and fracturing her skull.
- In court for the murder of Nadia, he first acts smug, but when he is pressured and knows there is no way to get out, he sadistically taunts the judge with questions that ask how she was tortured and how much it hurt.
- Taunts Rollins on how she is pregnant, which she didn't know at that time, and days after Rudnick is charged, he admits that he gave advice to him on keeping Lena alive as long as possible, basically helping Carl with more of his future victims.
- After being released from prison, he gags and ties up Bronwyn Freed-Wilkins before trying to have Rudnick kill her, snaps the necks of two electrical workers with Carl Rudnick, rapes and murders a female state trooper who entered his hideout, brutally assaults Rudnick by breaking his knees and legs and stabbing his eardrum, shoots a male trooper in the head, shoots at and hits Sergeant Mike Dodds and tries to shoot Detective Erin Lindsay Aswell, and for the finale, he kills a man with a gunshot wound to the head.
- On February 7th to the 8th, he assaults and carjacks 3 motorists, and to spite his sister, massacres an apartment room full of her nurse friends by beating 3 women to death and beating the other woman severely enough that she died in a hospital. After the massacre, he kidnaps his sister and gives several items to homeless people, one such was the hand of Adrienne Lewis, which he ordered to give to a station.
- In a final attack, he kidnaps his father and ties a rope around his neck while putting him close to a hole in floor of the home he was born. When Lindsay arrives, he coldly murders his father by pushing the chair down and hanging him, after he murders his father, he pulls out an icepick and taunts Linsday by saying she will be the one to tell his tale and making her kill him in self-defense.
- Even posthumously he affects Erin Lindsay as the immense trauma from Greg’s murder of Nadia turns her down a dark path of drugs where she eventually resigns.
What Prevents Him from Being Pure Evil?[]
- No matter what crimes he commits, he does genuinely love his fiancé, Susie, first acting smug and asking to know how she died and if she was pregnant, he then shows his anger when he tells Amanda Rollins that he was pretty sure she was pregnant, and we get a zoom on his face which shows that he is actually angry at her death.
- To further prove this, it's said by Benson that in the twenty years that he was been with her, despite her matching his victim preference, never once has he hurt her, and his motive of revenge on Carl, specifically torturing him, were all to avenge his wife
- The only problem with this redeeming factor was the fact he uses the death of Susie to taunt Rollins on her being pregnant without her knowing, but truly, these still never shed his only good factor.
- To further prove this, it's said by Benson that in the twenty years that he was been with her, despite her matching his victim preference, never once has he hurt her, and his motive of revenge on Carl, specifically torturing him, were all to avenge his wife
