NOTE: This page is only about Dr. Eggman's Pre-Super Genesis Wave version as his Post-Super Genesis Wave version was not voted Near Pure Evil, and thus only the old canon version of Eggman's info and crimes should be put here. |
Dr. Ivo "Eggman" Robotnik, previously known as Robo-Robotnik, is the main antagonist of Archie Comics' Sonic the Hedgehog comic series. He is the arch-nemesis of Sonic the Hedgehog. He is a version of Robotnik Prime from an alternate universe where he roboticized himself. After Robotnik Prime had been killed by the Ultimate Annihiliator, he traveled to Mobius and took his place, before his body was destroyed, but he managed to send his consciousness into a robotic body, turning himself into Dr. Eggman.
His Evil Ranking[]
What Makes Him Close to Being Pure Evil?[]
- He shared most of his history with Robotnik Prime due to being a version of him, thus it can be assumed that he had done basically all the same things Robotnik Prime had done, which is also implied as Naugus recognized Eggman despite the two never having met.
- In fact, many consider him to be much worse than the original Robotnik in-universe.
- As Robo-Robotnik, he released multiple criminals and had nuked his own version of Mobius, likely wiping out many of its inhabitants, but then decided to travel to Mobius-Prime after learning Robotnik-Prime had died, in his words to "fill the void in his and Sonic's life", basically going there to try to take over Mobius for his own amusement and because he was bored.
- As Robo-Robotnik, he had Evil Sonic try to collect pieces of the Giant-Borg for him.
- He drained Mobians of their life energy by putting them inside the Egg Grapes.
- When his "daughter", Mecha, wondered why he didn't use more efficient energy sources, he explained that they weren't as "fun" as Egg Grapes.
- He preferred Overlanders over Mobians in a clearly xenophobic fashion, but ironically never cared for either.
- He roboticized countless Mobians and turned them in his robot slaves, and when they became immune to roboticization, he legionized them, putting cyborg parts into Mobians with explosive devices in them that would explode if they didn't obey his orders.
- He also roboticized several Overlanders (including members of his Prime counterpart's family), which left them paralyzed, and they were destroyed before the process could be reverted.
- He tried to assassinate Mina Moongoose just because he didn't like her music, this resulted in Ash (Mina's boyfriend) getting injured while trying to protect her.
- While he has teamed up with Sonic on a few occasions, it was mostly for self-serving reasons as A.D.A.M and the Xorda threatened him as well.
- After the Xorda appeared to have been defeated by his robot's and Sonic's combined powers, he tried to use the robot to crush the rest of his enemies and intended to keep Sonic inside until he starved.
- He used Sonic's apparent death to expand his territories, as well as enslave the echidnas and kill off most of the citizens of Albion.
- Planned to nuke all territories where opposing forces still had presence.
- His forces destroyed the Golden Hive Colony, taking away Charmy Bee's home and family.
- Destroyed the Knothole, planning to condemn its inhabitants to the fate of the previous Egg Grapes' victims as well.
- While he failed to do the latter, the process gave Charmy brain damage.
- When battling Sonic following Knothole's destruction, he brutally defeats him physically and emotionally. The only reason he lets him live is out of sadism that he'd try to stop him again one day.
- It's worth noting that during this fight, Eggman mentally broke Sonic to the point where he actually tries to kill him by charging at him at high speeds.
- He mocked Snively when he told the doctor he had everything, including love, later he imprisoned Snively in a capsule, taunting him by saying "Game Over" and even sending a Snively robot clone to the Iron Queen without her ever knowing the truth, although to be fair Snively had betrayed him back there.
- While him going into insanity and being mentally broken because Sonic had defeated him multiple times could be seen as a bit sympathetic, he completely deserves it due to the horrible crimes he had done.
- He planned to roboticize Mobius and turn the planet completely robotic. If that didn't work, the Death Egg would still destroy anything mechanic, throwing his enemies back into the stone age. Even though it would mean that numerous civilians and even most of his minions would die too, he didn't care.
- After Sally sacrificed herself by letting the Death Egg roboticize only her, he immediately ordered her to kill Sonic.
- Attempted to assassinate the royal family. While he failed to do so, this led to Antoine getting gravely injured and rendered comatose.
- Along with Dr. Wily, he roboticized most of Sonic's friends and pitted them against him and Mega Man.
- Planned to rewrite the world to his own liking via the Super Genesis Wave.
- His friendship with Dr. Wily ultimately wasn't genuine even before it began to deteriorate, as both had plans to betray each other should their plan fail.
- He attempted to kill Dr. Light by dropping him to his death after realizing he was trying to contact Mega Man. Dr. Wily himself was against this, saying that he only wanted to humiliate Thomas, not kill him.
- He sabotaged Wily out of disgust for his reservations, showing glee when he was at Knuckles' mercy.
- When it became clear that his plan had failed, he interrupted Super Sonic when he was trying to reverse the Super Genesis Wave out of spite. This resulted in Mobius Prime being heavily altered and presumably many other zones destroyed.
- Overall, he's responsible for many events and tragedies on Mobius, and while he does have some comedic moments they don't detract from his heinousness. It eventually reached the point where even Sonic, known to banter with him and felt guilty for his role in his nemesis' mental breakdown, took back whatever kind of pity he felt for the doctor in the past.
What Prevents Him from Being Pure Evil?[]
- He has shown to be capable of actually caring for others, as he displayed remorse for killing his daughter Mecha, who was framed for betraying him by A.D.A.M., to the point of letting Sonic go after A.D.A.M. was destroyed due to feeling sad about Mecha.
Trivia[]
- Ironically, he foreshadowed the Mainstream Dr. Eggman being Near Pure Evil, since at first, Eggman had standards until the canonization of IDW Comics and Sonic Forces helped push Eggman into consistency due to becoming more serious and competent.
