~ Dr. Crackpot to Deimos and Sanford just before his boss fight. |
“ | Dr. Crackpot: Psst! Hey, [player's name]! Player: Do I know you? Dr. Crackpot: Nope. Nuh uh. But I know you. By reputation anyway. You've been a naughty little mischief maker for the VendeVice. Player: And you... what... work for them or something? Are we gonna have a problem? Dr. Crackpot: Oh no, no, no! Heavens! I'm just a simple purveyor of rare technologies. I cam here seeking scientific wonders to bring back home with me to Nexus City, and I couldn't help but hear your associate mention... Enmeshment? Player: I'm not going to discuss that with you. Dr. Crackpot: Of course not... and why would you? Enmeshment is fringe science. It doesn't work. Player: If you think that's going to trick me into revealing anything to you... Dr. Crackpot: Not at all, [player's name]. See, I already know all there is to know about Enmeshment. It's about binding two things permanently together. Theoretically, you could, say... link two people to one another, fating them always to be drawn back together. Or you might bind yourself to a point in time, allowing you a sort of limited, backwards time travel. Like a re-do! Why, if one were so inclined, they could attach their own essence... their identity... to their body, circumventing death! How marvelous would that be? Player: Look, that all sounds great, but I... Dr. Crackpot: Look, just... hear me out. I'm not asking for anything for free. I'm prepared to compensate you heavily just to look at your Enmeshment Tech. I have at my disposal a mighty array of cutting edge equipment and experimental alphaware. It's yours. I only ask for access once you're done with whatever you're trying to Enmesh. Player: I'll think about it. Dr. Crackpot: You are as reasonable as you are wise, [player's name]. It was a pleasure making your acquaintance. We'll meet again soon. |

~ Dr. Crackpot meeting the Arena Mode's protagonist for the first time. |
Dr. Crackpot is a character in the video game MADNESS: Project Nexus (also known as Project Nexus 2), serving as a major antagonist in the Story Mode and a supporting character in the Arena Mode. He's a former head scientist of Nexus Core and the creator of Plan Zed.
His Evil Ranking[]
What Makes Him Close to Being Pure Evil?[]
- He created Plan Zed, which makes him partially responsible for the zombie apocalypse.
- Being a head scientist, it's likely that he was aware of the problems that might have come if Phobos had continued to lead Project Nexus in the way he was leading it but, judging by his dialogue with Christoff, he doesn't care about any possible risk if it means a good position for him.
- He overall is the most unpleasant scientist of Nexus Core, which is best shown with him gloating to Christoff over the fact that the latter was removed from his position as lead scientist by Phobos.
- He stole mentally ill patients from a medical asylum when his request to free them was rejected and subsequently used them to create a cult worshipping the Zeds and seeing him as the savior.
- It's also made clear that part of the reason he created the cult was to spite Christoff.
- In Arena Mode, he offers the protagonist some money in exchange of the latter committing a bank robbery.
- While most Nexus Core members are blindly loyal to Phobos, Crackpot's loyalty doesn't seem genuine and it's likely he obeys Phobos simply because he wants to keep a good position within Nexus Core and/or is greatly afraid of Phobos.
- This seems proven by the fact that when Phobos died, unlike most other members, Crackpot abandoned Nexus Core and lead his own cult instead of continuing his former master's will.
- While he is quite affable towards the Arena Mode's protagonist, it's likely this isn't genuine and depends on him wanting to see Status Quo's Enmeshment Tech and/or being too afraid to return to Phobos empty-handed.
- While it's implied that he isn't fully mentally sane since he seems to believe that the scientists who went mad due to exposure to Dissonance are "otherworldly prophets of The Other Place", and he himself has been exposed to Dissonance, it ultimately isn't enough to prove he has moral agency issues since he's shown to be an intelligent person who's fully aware of his actions.
What Prevents Him from Being Pure Evil?[]
- He fails the Heinous Standards when compared to Hank and Phobos.
