Ah, hello, Henry. Welcome... to The Wall. Some of the most cunning and notorious criminals are kept here, and now we have the infamous Henry Stickmin. You're going to be here for a long time. Grigori, take him.
~ Dmitri Petrov's first and most famous words to Henry.
You've taken everything from me. My reputation is ruined. Now I will ruin you!
~ Dmitri Petrov's villainous breakdown and last words to Henry Stickmin in the Toppat Recruits ending.

Dmitri Johannes Petrov, also known as The Warden, is a major antagonist in the Henry Stickmin franchise, serving as the main antagonist in Fleeing the Complex and being the secondary antagonist in Completing the Mission.

He is the head of the Canadian prison complex known as The Wall and the boss of Grigori Olyat, his right-hand man. Although in most routes Henry escapes without Dmitri noticing, there have been times when he's alarmed of Henry's escape. Depending on players' choice, he can be the arch-nemesis of the titular character.

His Evil Ranking[]

What Makes Him Close To Being Pure Evil?[]

In General[]

  • While he appears to be on the side of justice, given how he tends to kidnap and lock people in his complex, this is contradicted with the fact various are shown to be undeserving of such a stay in The Wall, and the guard's main response to an escape attempt is to gun down the inmates, so it's very likely he mainly cares about his reputation, rather than justice being done.
  • He isn't shown to care about any of his staff, ignoring several of the guards injured during Henry's escape attempts, callously reducing their paychecks for failing to capture Henry, and sending them into a warzone, putting their lives at risk, just to capture both Henry and Ellie.
  • While he doesn't talk badly about his right-hand man, Grigori Oylat, nothing proves if he has any care for him.
  • While definitely not by a large margin given that he still has comedic moments such as making a goofy face when whacked by Ellie in Convict Allies, he is the most serious character in the Henry Stickmin franchise with everyone taking him as a serious threat, especially in Presumed Dead and Completing the Mission as a whole.
  • Despite the series' high heinous standards, set by Henry, Reginald, and the CCC, he has far less resources given he is just a warden and has no access to powerful, destructive resources or a rocket.

Background[]

  • During his time as the warden of The Wall, he would capture and lock up several criminals in order to boost his reputation, despite the fact that several of the inmates bios reveal some are petty criminals and some outright innocent.
    • It's also shown that the conditions of The Wall aren't the best, as there is a whole room filled with sick inmates with one of them even losing his arm.

Fleeing the Complex[]

  • He kidnapped Henry Stickmin and locked him up in his complex, and while in some routes Henry does indeed deserve to be locked up, in others, he has redeemed himself and/or pardoned by the government for his crimes, yet Dmitri captures him anyway.
  • In the Presumed Dead route, once Henry is dangling off a cliff inside a truck, Dmitri threatens to push him off the cliff if he doesn't surrender, which he does should Henry not do anything.
  • In the Convict Allies route, he tackles Henry and was presumably going to kill him for causing a riot in his complex.

Completing the Mission[]

  • He sends most of his staff into an ongoing battle between The Toppat Clan and The Government in order to try and recapture Henry and Ellie, which in turn leads to the military mistakenly believing they were Toppat reinforcements, causing them to open fire on his staff, something he never addresses.
    • Dolan Torkov, one of his men, is shown being on his knees, holding his chest, implying he had been shot and is bleeding out.
    • To further prove how dangerous this decision was, the fact that Toppat rocket fell and then exploded in Pardoned Pals after Henry and Ellie shot down support beams means that the squad he sent definitely died.
  • If Henry and Ellie choose to surrender to Dmitri, he will freeze both of them back at his complex.
  • In the Toppat Recruits route, he knocks out Ellie and nearly kills Henry, before Henry manages to overpower him and make him fall to his deserved death.

What Prevents Him From Being Pure Evil?[]

  • His worst actions rely on Fridge Horror, as it isn't fully elaborated upon as to how bad the conditions of The Wall actually are with it only being shown in one scene and even one of them seems fine despite having his arm fall off, while Rocket exploding in Pardoned Pals definitely caused death of squad he sent it's unknown how big that squad was, and him freezing Henry and Ellie isn't given enough context if they're still conscious of not.
