Dervahl is a major antagonist in Horizon Zero Dawn.
He is the former leader of an Oseram faction, who attempted to rebel against Jiran and his tyrannical ruling. However, after Jiran sent his daughter and wife to the Sun-Ring, Dervahl became a terrorist, hell-bent on taking revenge against Jiran and subsequently Erend and Ersa. He later becomes responsible for Ersa's murder, as well as his plot to destroy Meridian as payback for what Jiran did to his family. However, his plans were soon foiled by the Nora Huntress Aloy and Erend, leading up to his imprisonment.
He is voiced by Anthony Howell.

What Makes Him Close to Being Pure Evil?[]
- After descending into becoming a terrorist, Dervahl would soon plot his intent on gaining revenge against both the Oseram and Carja for the deaths of his family, regardless of the countless innocent lives that would be lost.
- Betrayed his own tribe out of pettiness and spite, simply because of Ersa refusing his romantic advances as she became more romantically involved towards Avad.
- He later executes his elaborate scheme to target Avad, his nemesis Erend and Ersa, as well as both the Carja and Oseram within Meridian, as retaliation for Jiran's ruling.
- He and his men massacred and killed off Ersa's Vanguard unit with a sonic device on Dimmed Bones, before he kidnaps Ersa and bring her to Pitchcliff as his prisoner, where he would continuously torture her with the device. This soon later led to Ersa's death.
- Proceeded to swap off Ersa's "dead body" with the body of another member of Ersa's Vanguard unit in an attempt to fool both Erend and Aloy, as well as framing the Shadow Carja for the supposed "terrorist attack".
- Rigged the entire storehouse with large amounts of Blaze barrels, which is extremely powerful enough to cause a city-wide destruction, in an attempt to destroy Meridian and kill off both Oseram and the Carja residents (who are innocent citizens that had nothing to do with Jiran's tyranny) residing within the city, as well as Avad.
- Incapacitated Avad with his sonic device, as well as attempting to personally kill Avad in an act of regicide for his father's crimes, despite the fact Avad was the primary dissident to his father's tyranny.
What Prevents Him from Being Pure Evil?[]
- His descent to villainy stemmed from Jiran's act of executing his wife and daughter into the Sun-Ring, which is minor tragic. Despite this, Dervahl's acts do not excuse it, as he was bent on endangering countless Oseram and Carja tribesmen who were completely innocent and had nothing to do with Jiran's tyranny at all.
- Considering his tragedy holds a bit, this proves that he cared about his family.
