I'll break your F-CKIN' NECK INNA' MINUTE!
~ Delmar threatening Travers, his first line in the movie.
F-CK the money, and F-CK YOU! I wasn't born to die on no F-CKIN' MOUNTAIN!
~ Delmar lashing out at Hal and the rest of the crew.
Tucker: Hey, Delmar, from me to you, you're an asshole.
Delmar: Yeah? And you're a loud-mouth punk slag, who's about to die.
Tucker: Maybe. But in a minute I'll be dead, and you, will always be the asshole. So go ahead and shoot, I'm getting cold... SHOOT!
Delmar: Who's shooting? [head-butts him]
~ Delmar approaching Hal before brutally beating him.

Delmar is a major antagonist in the 1993 live action film Cliffhanger. He is the archenemy of Hal Tucker.

He is a sadistic ex-soccer player turned henchman for Eric Qualen. He is one of the most ruthless and sadistic henchmen of all of his accomplices, due to helping Kynette shoot some teenagers, and killing an elderly man, Frank, against Qualen's orders.

He was portrayed by Craig Fairbrass.

Biography[]

This section is too long. Visit here for more details: Delmar's Synopsis on the Villains Wiki.

His Evil Ranking[]

What Makes Him Close to Being Pure Evil?[]

  • He is hostile towards his fellow thieves right from the start, as his first line is him shouting "I'll break your F-CKIN' NECK INNA' MINUTE!" at Travers after the plane crashes.
  • When Hal warns Gabe that the terrorists plan to kill him when he comes down, Delmar grabs Hal and bashes his head against a rock to hold him at gunpoint again.
  • When he sees that Gabe kills Ryan, one of the henchmen, Delmar lashes out at Hal and everyone else, proclaiming he "wasn't born to die on no F-CKIN' mountain!", and starts a fight with Kynette, which angers Qualen.
  • He also has many moments that show some racism in him, such as when he calls Kynette "boy", and when he tells Kristel to "blow up that black bastard", referencing Kynette.
  • He regularly pushes and shoves Hal around throughout the film needlessly.
  • When Kynette kills a teenager under Qualen's orders, Delmar smiles and hands Kynette his gun so he can kill the other one.
  • When Hal warns Gabe & Jessie of a bomb Qualen and Kristel put on the radio, Delmar chases after Hal and nearly chokes him in order to get the radio back.
  • When Frank, an old member of the Rocky Mountain Rescue Team, arrives in a helicopter, thinking he's helping stranded climbers, who are actually terrorists, Delmar ruthlessly shoots and kills him against orders, smiling while doing so, which causes Kristel to lash out at him.
  • When Travers tells him to kill Hal quietly, and when he sees that Hal is ready to die an honorable death, Delmar brutally tortures him instead, kicking and kneeing him around like a soccer ball, laughing and taunting Hal while doing so.
  • While he doesn't take that many lives, Delmar is clearly more than willing to take more if he could.

What Prevents Him from Being Pure Evil?[]

  • He fails the Heinous Standards to Qualen, who is the mastermind and does worse than Delmar. However, given that Delmar is a henchman, he doesn't have the power over everyone else that Qualen has, making it a minor prevention.

Trivia[]

  • For their actions and personality in general, Delmar and the rest of Qualen's crew are considered by far some of the darkest and vilest out of all the villains from the Die Hard scenario films. Most of their atrocities, as well as some of their own deserved grisly deaths were so graphic and horrific that it initially got the movie a NC-17 rating before getting edited down.
