~ Dark Danny to Danny Phantom- his most famous quote. |
Dark Danny, also known as Dan Phantom, is the main antagonist of Danny Phantom: The Ultimate Enemy and the comic Danny Phantom: A Glitch in Time.
He is the evil future version of Danny Phantom, who was created as a result of him fusing with the ghost form of his archenemy Vlad Plasmius. He is the most powerful and evil villain in the show, having destroyed thousands of lives and showing no remorse for his actions. Apart from Vlad, he is arguably Danny Phantom's second arch-nemesis and by far his most dangerous and hated foe he has ever faced. Out of all of Danny's villains, Dark Danny was the one who came closest to defeating him (not just physically but psychologically too) and was only stopped because of Danny's Ghostly Wail.
He was voiced by Eric Roberts.
His Evil Ranking[]
What Makes Him Close to Being Pure Evil?[]
- In the series finale "Phantom Planet", he is one of the only ghosts who does not return to help Danny, which heavily implies that he has no interest in redeeming himself, thus making him one of the only Near Pure Evil villains in Danny Phantom to be incredibly vile (although this could also be a result of him being imprisoned in a Fenton Thermos at the end of "The Ultimate Enemy" because he is way too dangerous to be released).
- Unlike most of the villains who have some morality, redeeming qualities, comedic moments or at least honor, Dark Danny possesses almost had no such trait, and his role is taken completely seriously. He shows no regret for destroying the world, his hometown, Amity Park, and hurting/torturing and killing both people and ghosts alike.
- It could be argued that Dark Danny fails the heinous standard of the series, as several other antagonists share his crimes of not taking over the world and threatening the people Danny cares about, as well as the fact his mass murder is heavily implied but not actually confirmed.
- However, it's still worth noting that Dark Danny was the only villain to actually came close to succeeding in both literally killing Danny's love ones (as Clockwork had to intervened in saving his love ones at the last second and these crimes were erased from existence to stop him) and while most ghosts' wanted to rule the human world, more specifically Amity Park, Dark Danny also managed to destroy both the human world and the Ghost Zone, a feat no other villain succeed in doing.
- In addition to that, with him killing his human-self and adult Valerie onscreen, bringing harm to other ghosts and humans, and that he himself is Danny, he still stands out as the most dangerous threat, despite his one appearance. He also tried to destroy the world in Danny Phantom: A Glitch in Time.

- Once he fused with Vlad's ghost half, he viciously murdered his own human self and destroyed Vlad's mansion, only sparing Vlad so that he could tell everyone what had happened.
- According to Clockwork, Dark Danny has committed at least two thousand evil acts during his 10-year rampage without any shred of remorse.
- He ravaged Amity Park, the Ghost Zone and other places.
- He hurt fellow ghosts for the fun of it, again without any sense of morality.
- He used the Box Ghost as a punching bag, giving him an eyepatch and a hook.
- He crippled Johnny 13 to the point he is bound to a wheelchair.
- He crippled Skulker and Technus to the point where the two needed to combine their battlesuits to become Skulktech 9.9 to gang up and have a better change of fighting him.
- He used his Ghostly Wail to severely damage Ember McLain's vocal cords.
- It is implied by Technus that most of Danny's enemies he tortured didn't survive.
- Even if all of his enemies deserved the torment due to what they did in the past, it doesn't justify his actions. It was also way too brutal.
- Even Danny (who also does revenge on his enemies a few times in the series) didn't went that far, thus making his actions understandable and at least somewhat justified while Dark Danny's revenge was done pure out of anger and spite.
- Even if all of his enemies deserved the torment due to what they did in the past, it doesn't justify his actions. It was also way too brutal.
- He used his Ghostly Wail again to destroy Amity Park's impenetrable Ghost Shield as well as starting a huge earthquake that caused much damage on the inside, killing adult Kwan while he was in a flying car.
- He presumably killed Valerie's father Damon.
- When Danny told Sam and Tucker to run, Dark Danny used his ghostly wail to cause Fenton Works to collapse on them and nearly killing them (only surviving because they took off their time medallions) and sadistically forces Danny to watch as the building collapses on his friends.
- He traps his younger self into the future and sends him to the Ghost Zone where his crippled enemies were waiting for him. Additionally, he also risked his own existence by putting Danny there with his enemies.
- He attempts to murder Danny's friends, family, and teacher at the present-day Nasty Burger just so he could preserve his existence. He would have succeeded if Clockwork didn't intervene at the last second.
- After escaping (thanks to Vlad) Dark Danny fuses with Clockwork to stabilize himself while also giving himself the power to stop and freeze time. The side effect of creating “glitches” in time just by existing.
- Dark Danny travels into the past to ruin the future for Danny and the others, just when Danny's life was going great and manages to leave a devastating impact to the timeline. Because of this, Danny asks Clockwork to erase everyone's knowledge (minus Sam, Tucker, Jazz, and likely Valerie) of his involvement in the Disasteroid incident and make his alter ego a secret again, sacrificing his entire fame and glory for the sake of time itself.
- Overall, he surpasses all of Danny’s other powerful foes, namely Vortex, Undergrowth, Freakshow when he wields the Reality Gauntlet to control all reality, and Pariah Dark the Ghost King when he has his ring and crown. He also easily surpasses Danny's archenemy Vlad Masters/Plasmius, who showed remorse and regret over his evil actions in the series finale and in "The Ultimate Enemy".
What Prevents Him from Being Pure Evil?[]
- In the comic, Danny Phantom: A Glitch in Time, it's revealed that he was genuinely upset that he lost his family and friends, and the only reason he tried to ensure it happened again in the present was because he felt no other version of Danny deserved to have what was taken from him. This arguably gives some degree of sympathy to him and shows that he still cares about his loved ones.
Trivia[]
- Since he didn't fade from existence after Danny promised himself that wouldn't become him or after Clockwork saved his family and friends from being killed, it is implied that he might've infused the time medallion he used to travel back into the past into himself just as he did with Danny's to ensure that wouldn't disappear if Danny still didn't make the choices he made.
- It’s been theorized that Dark Danny used his human self’s dead body to commit all of his crimes, if proven true, it would make him worse.
