“ | You see?! You understand now, don't ya?! You can have me! It's how the world works now! Give part of yourself... so others can live! (...) You gotta keep me alive. If you kill me, the meat gets tainted! You can't eat it! | „ |
~ Danny to Lee, pleading for his life. |
Danny St. John is one of the three main antagonists of "Starved for Help", the second episode of the first season of Telltale's The Walking Dead video game series.
Although at first they appeared friendly towards Lee and his band of survivors, they were eventually revealed to be deceptive cannibals, who resorted to murder and cannibalism in an effort to stay alive during the zombie apocalypse.
His Evil Ranking[]
What Makes Him Close to Being Pure Evil?[]
- When the apocalypse broke out, he, alongside his mother and older brother, became cannibals, trapping people to their dairy farm and butchering them for meat. Some of these people possibly include their farmhands. They use their meat for eating by themselves, and trading with the other groups.
- Butchered their victims alive instead of killing them first, so the meat didn't become "tainted", as explained by Danny himself.
- They also used their victims' meat for trading it with the other groups, including Save-Lots Bandits. It is most likely that the groups are not aware of what they are eating, or yet to realize, as Jolene seems to know it, which makes the situation worse.
- Placed around bear traps in the woods to catch anyone. Those bear traps were seen before as David Parker got caught on one and caused his gruesome death via either getting left behind for the walkers or blood loss through leg amputation.
- Can determinately shoot Jolene in the head if she tries to reveal anything about him and his family, expressing glee towards the fact that he got to use his gun Charlotte on a living person. Furthermore, his affection towards Charlotte is just flat-out creepy, referring to the gun as a beautiful women he likes to sleep with every night. After she died, Danny steals her crossbow.
- If Lee shoots her instead, Danny will hypocritically berate him for it, and it’s implied he would have kidnapped and eaten her if she lived, as he stated her death as 'a waste'.
- After Mark got shot by the bandits, Brenda takes him to her dairy farm while claiming that she will look after him, but it is later revealed that the family drugged Mark, cut his legs off for meat and abandoned him to death in a bathroom, well-hidden behind a bookshelf.
- They serve Mark's legs as dinner to the group, tricking Duck, Larry and determinately Clementine into eating human meat.
- Imprisons all of the survivors -except Katjaa and Duck who are taken hostage separately- to the meat locker. This later made Larry have a heart attack and murdered by Kenny, which sends Lilly into a spiral -which makes him responsible for her behavior afterwards- and everything else going downhill.
- Had the group couldn't free themselves from the locker, the family would choose one to keep alive and use them for meat, and kill rest of them, including Clementine and Duck.
- Unlike his mother who seemed to have at least been remorseful and did it to survive, and his brother who seemed less malicious than him, Danny had shown no remorse and did it purely out of sadism. It was visibly shown when he just continued to eat the meat while his mother and brother were trying to justify themselves.
- Even after his defeat by Lee, he doesn’t feel remorseful, instead saying it’s just how the world works now and trying to trick him into cannibalize Danny's body.
- If Danny killed Jolene, he will mock Lee for being a coward, saying he can not kill just like he couldn't kill Jolene.
- If Lee killed Jolene instead, he will provoke Lee to kill him, and determinately succeed.
What Prevents Him from Being Pure Evil?[]
- He does have slight care for his mother and brother. Even though Danny is jealous she cares for Andy more, Danny still defended him from an angry Lee, and as Brenda puts it, he’s a momma’s boy.
Trivia[]
- According to unused audio files and Brian Sommer himself, he has pedophilic intentions, as deleted clips have him talk about how school kids had field trips to the dairy farm and his interests in the younger girls "summer clothing." This is even alluded during the dialogue between him and his brother, with Andrew said that they could keep one to live, Danny excitedly asked if he can choose, to which Andrew specifically replied with “Not the girl, not enough meat on her.”
