DOR-15, more commonly known as Doris, is the main antagonist of the 2007 Disney's 47th full-length animated-computered feature film Meet the Robinsons (which is based on William Joyce's 1990 children's picture book A Day with Wilbur Robinson).
She is a hat-like robot from the future who teams up wit the Bowler Hat Guy to get back at her creator Cornelius Robinson. To do so, DOR-15 decides to back to the past and ruin Robinson's debut invention just to ensure the successful civilization he is going to create never happens, prompting his son Wilbur to follow her and his associate into the present day to foil their plans.
Her vocal effects were provided by Ethan Sandler.
Her Evil Ranking[]
What Makes Her Close to Being Pure Evil?[]
- She helped Bowler Hat Guy in his plot to ruin Lewis's future by presenting his inventions as his own, and while she acted like his friends, this is nothing more than a façade and she was only teaming up with him to get what she wanted.
- She sneaked into the Robinson household and attempted to saw off the chandelier above Wilbur Robinson, and had she not been distracted by Goob summoning Tiny to attack the Robinsons, she most likely would've successfully crushed Wilbur to death in front of his entire family.
- She murdered Carl to take the Memory Scanner by ripping out his core, with the electricity crackling out of his body as he gasped for his life before his dying breath.
- After Goob mass produced her Helping Hats, she had the Helping Hats cause chaos in the city, with buildings and cars burning, and many people being brainwashed.
- When Goob expressed his horror about her attack on the city to her, she sent a bunch of Helping Hats on Goob to kill him.
- She took over the entire city, with everyone brainwashed by the helping hats and forced to work in very dangerous conditions against their will, such as being forced to work at deadly factories and dump out garbage into a fiery incinerator, with it also being implied she planned to attack other cities as she was building more bowler hats when the city was already conquered.
- It is implied, though not confirmed, that she did not give the helping hats the freedom she herself wanted, as they share a hive mind with her.
- She attempted to force Lewis's family to kill him, with all of his future family members brainwashed by the Helping Hats and Wilbur not being born, before they banged on the time machine so it would fall off the balcony with Lewis inside.
- When Lewis exposed her true plans to Goob, she tried to kill him with her buzzsaws.
- Despite being a robot, she has a clear moral agency due to turning against her creator, and a manipulative personality due to tricking Bowler Hat Guy.
- While she does have some comedic moments early on with the Bowler Hat Guy, all of these moments were subverted by the end.
- Even though her potential was undermined by Lewis, it does not justify her actions, especially since she decided that she was made to be "a slave to humankind" even though she showed no signs of abuse and was treated rather fairly until she violently brainwashed the test subject who was testing her abilities, meaning that no one forced her to do it.
What Prevents Her from Being Pure Evil?[]
- Her worst crimes rely on Fridge Horror, as while her slavery is implied to be lethal as it involved fire, the full extent of her slavery is never shown, and while her attack on the city did cause buildings and cars to burn, it's unknown if anyone died.
Trivia[]
- To highlight her Near Pure Evil status, DOR-15 was added to Meet the Robinsons once Pixar former CCO John Lasseter saw an early screening of the film and commented to director Stephen J. Anderson that he didn't find the Bowler Hat Guy threatening or scary enough like other villains from his films such as Sid Phillips of Toy Story or Hopper of A Bug's Life, the latter another Near Pure Evil villain, so it's unknown how much DOR-15's role in the plot affected the Bowler Hat Guy's original villainy.
