Cythonna is the main antagonist of the Cartoon Network animated 2022 direct-to-video film Teen Titans Go! & DC Super Hero Girls: Mayhem in the Multiverse, a crossover between Teen Titans Go! and DC Super Hero Girls, also serving as the series finale for the latter.
She is the ancient Kryptonian goddess of darkness, blight, and suffering, who ruled over Krypton in ancient times before being ousted by her brother Rao, the sun god. However, Cythonna gets freed on the present day and focuses on targeting the Earth with the Legion of Doom's assistance.
She was voiced by Missi Pyle.
Her Evil Ranking[]
What Makes Her Close to Being Pure Evil?[]
- She is the Kryptonian goddess of darkness, blight, and suffering. She literally gains more power from the evil of others.
- In ancient times, she ruled over the planet Krypton as a cruel tyrant and turned the planet into a desolate dump. She was only stopped by her brother Rao, the sun god. Her rule over Krypton was apparently so bad that it became a legend among the people long after the fact.
- She manipulated Lex Luthor and had him found the Legion of Doom, thus being responsible for their world domination to an extent.
- She gave the Legion of Doom the ability to send various heroes to the Phantom Zone. While it isn't painful in and of itself, she likely planned to keep them there forever.
- When the Legion of Doom takes over the world, she reveals her true intentions by mind-controlling all of them to do her bidding.
- She held Superman captive in a kryptonite cell and used him as bait to lure Supergirl to her.
- She threatened to kill Superman if Supergirl didn't become her vessel, and put Supergirl in the same kryptonite prison to think through the deal.
- She possessed Supergirl and tried to kill the Justice League.
- While fighting with Supergirl inside the latter's mind, she said ""I can't wait to turn your despicable world to ash," implying that (if she won) Cythonna would destroy Earth.
- After being banished to the Teen Titans Go! dimension, she yelled "I will destroy this whole universe!" while fighting the Teen Titans, implying that she is able and willing to cause universe-wide destruction.
What Prevents Her from Being Pure Evil?[]
- She relies a bit too much on Fridge Horror:
- Her reign of terror over Krypton in ancient times isn't elaborated on in much detail. It is only mentioned in by Supergirl explaining who Cythonna is, and we don't see much of what Cythonna's rule was like in her description.
- Though she did threaten to destroy two worlds, these words aren't stressed by the narrative nor are they backed up by any show of power. The most explicit of these two threats (the one given during her fight with the Teen Titans) was also said in a fit of rage.
- While Cythonna is taken completely seriously for the majority of the movie, her defeat by the Teen Titans near the end is a humiliating display that is mostly played for laughs.
