Cristu Bulat is one of the three main antagonists (alongside Vera Konstantin and Tiberiu Bulat) of Volume 5 of The Punisher MAX made by Garth Ennius.
He is the lead runner of the human trafficking operations in New York City set up by himself and his father. Unlike his father, Cristu is sociopathically indifferent to the sex slave operation.
His Evil Ranking[]
What Makes Him Close to Being Pure Evil?[]
- When he was a soldier in Yugoslav Wars, he and his father created a mercenary business, which was responsible for the deaths of thousands of Muslims and other immigrants across different villages.
- When realizing that the war will end quickly, he came up with the idea of setting up a prostitution business in New York City and convinced his father to join him.
- Created a human trafficking operation, along with his business partner Vera, where women are kidnapped and forced into prostitution, being brutally raped and abused to a severe extent, with one girl, a Moldavian woman named Viorica, who was raped by 4-20 men every single day since she was 15. He even lets his dad prostitute some women to him.
- While not understanding it, he green-lit Vera’s idea of having all the women immediately raped by goons to break their wills.
- Despite not being sadistic, unlike his father, this isn’t a prevention as it’s clear Cristu is simply a sociopath who doesn’t care about the well-being about the trafficked women and only sees their suffering a business practice.
- While he rejects the idea of torturing an African American gang member, chisting his father for not simply shooting him and wanting to keep the other gangers alive, it’s not out of standards and merely due to his no nonsense pragmatism, simply viewing it as sending a message and not wanting his father’s cruelty to hurt his business.
- When Tiberiu’s sadistic tendencies started effected his business, decides to order a hit on him to kill Jim to protect him and Vera’s business.
What Prevents Him from Being Pure Evil?[]
- He has genuine care for his business partner and implied lover Vera, with the two getting along well and discussion his personal issues with her, reassuring her of his saftey when his father survived his assassination attempt, and refused to reveal information about her to the Punisher until he is brutally tortured.
- While he does eventually try and kill him, Cristu does care for his father, letting him live in a paid for apartment as Cristu sincerely wanted Tiberiu to spend the rest of his life in comfort after the war. While he does eventually decide to kill him, it’s clear he’s hesitant to do so and is frustrated having it so, deciding to have him die quickly in his sleep by assassins.
