| NOTE: This page is only about the original book incarnation of Corban Yaxley, as his adaptational film incarnation was not voted Near Pure Evil, and thus only the book version of Yaxley info should be put here. |
| “ | Yes — my Lord, that is true — but you know, as Head of the Department of Magical Law Enforcement, Thicknesse has regular contact not only with the Minister himself, but also with the Heads of all the other Ministry departments. It will, I think, be easy, now that we have such a high-ranking official under our control, to subjugate the others, and then they can all work together to bring Scrimgeour down." | „ |
| ~ Yaxley elaborates on the plan to overthrow the Ministry. |
| “ | You realise that I am on my way downstairs to interrogate your wife, Cattermole? In fact, I'm quite surprised you’re not down there holding her hand while she waits. Already given her up as a bad job, have you? Probably wise. Be sure and marry a pure-blood next time... But if my wife were accused of being a Mudblood — not that any woman I married would ever be mistaken for such filth — and the Head of Department of Magical Law Enforcement needed a job doing, I would make it my priority to do this job, Cattermole. Do you understand me? | „ |

Corban Yaxley is a supporting antagonist in the Harry Potter franchise.
He is a wizard specialising in dark magic and was one of the original Death Eaters serving Voldemort during his rise to power.
His Evil Ranking[]
What Makes Him Close to Being Pure Evil?[]
- He joined Voldemort in the early days of the First Wizarding War, likely partaking in many acts of murder, terrorism, and torture.
- After Voldemort’s second rise to power, he rejoined the Death Eaters and oversaw the death of Albus Dumbledore while fighting on Hogwarts grounds.
- He placed Pius Thicknesse under the Imperius Curse and facilitated his rise to power as a puppet Minister for Magic. This makes him responsible for the eventual downfall of the Ministry of Magic and everything it did while under Voldemort’s control.
- Using spies within the Ministry, he ensured the existing Minister, Rufus Scrimgeour was tortured and killed by Voldemort and the Death Eaters, with it likely he took part in the murder as well.
- As the new Head of the Department of Magical Law Enforcement, he likely played a role in the political persecution of Harry Potter, alongside the many Muggle-born witches and wizard that were unjustly sent to Azkaban with the Dementors by Dolores Umbridge as part of the Muggle-born Registration Committee.
- He threatened to negatively influence the trial of Muggle-born Mary Cattermole if her husband (actually Ron in disguise) didn’t fix a spell that made it rain in his office.
- Upon discovering Harry, Ron and Hermione had broken into the Ministry, he attempted to hunt them down and followed them to Grimmauld Place through the Flu Network. This led to Hermione needing to suddenly apparate everyone to safety, causing Ron to get spliched on the journey and lose a chunk of his arm.
- He participated in the Battle of Hogwarts alongside the rest of Voldemort’s Death Eaters.
- While he serves Voldemort, there is nothing that indicates he does so out of genuine loyalty as opposed to just wanting power.
- While he mentions potentially having a wife to Reginald Cattermole (really a disguised Ron Weasley) at one point, it's possible that he was only speaking hypothetically. And even if he wasn't, there's no indication that he loves or cares for his supposed wife.
What Prevents Him from Being Pure Evil?[]
- He fails the heinous standards to Voldemort himself as his takeover of the Ministry of Magic was done entirely on his orders. While Voldemort has greater resources, this doesn’t matter as Yaxley doesn’t do anything uniquely heinous from his master.
Trivia[]
- His film incarnation doesn't qualify as Near Pure Evil due to his greatly reduced role and characterization. He is never even stated to be controlling Pius Thicknesse via the Imperius Curse. The circumstances of Scrimgeour's murder are also unexplored.
