I am Conquest. I have never failed to assimilate a chosen planet, no matter its strength. If you choose to oppose me, you will not survive.
~ Conquest introducing himself to Invincible.
I should do this now--don't know when I'll get this chance again. I want to thank you, Mark Grayson... Invincible. Really. From the bottom of my heart. It's not very often that I get to cut loose like this. I mean really cut loose like I have here. Usually, there are so many mission parameters. "Don't destroy this." "Keep this person alive." But not here—not with this planet. For whatever reason, I don't really care why, to be honest, I was told--take control, no matter what it takes... take control of the planet. So whatever you did to piss us off--thank you. This has been fun.
~ Conquest "thanking" Invincible for defying the Viltrumite Empire.

Conquest is a major antagonist in the Image Comics series Invincible. He is a very old and sadistic Viltrumite who arrives on Earth during the immediate aftermath of the Invincible War. Conquest immediately forces Invincible to either help him conquer Earth or defy him and die. Invincible who is not in good mood decides to defy Conquest and they both get into a fight.

His Evil Ranking[]

What Makes Him Close to Being Pure Evil?[]

  • Even though Omni-Man stated that Conquest used to be a great and honorable Viltrumite in the past, this is no longer the case since Conquest himself admits that he works for the Viltrumite Empire purely to satisfy his bloodlust.
  • Before the start of the series, he has massacred multiple planets and killed multiple aliens.
  • Threatened Invincible to either help him conquer the earth or defy him and die.
  • When Invincible decides to fight Conquest, he nearly kills Invincible in their first fight. Invincible was only able to survive the fight with the help of Atom Eve and Oliver Grayson.
  • Attempts to kill Oliver Grayson by ripping the latter's body in half. Conquest even tells Oliver that he will eat his heart after ripping the latter in half.
  • Impales Atom Eve with his arm and to make things worse he even licks Atom Eve's blood and comments on how delicious it is.
  • When Invincible is mourning over a dying Atom Eve, Conquest decides to mock Invincible on how foolish it is to love a human. This angers Invincible to gain the will to kill Conquest.
  • He thanks Invincible for defying the Viltrum Empire because it has given Conquest an excuse to cut loose without having to deal with mission parameters from the Viltrum Empire.
  • Refuses to give up on trying to kill Invincible despite the injuries he gained from the fight.
  • The beatdown he got from the end of his fight against Invincible was well-deserved, as he would have conquered Earth if he was not taken down by Invincible.
  • He managed to traumatize Invincible in the aftermath of their first fight.
  • Immediately escapes prison once he wakes up from his coma.
  • Attempts to kill Invincible again out of fear from Grand Regent Thragg.
  • Once he sees that Oliver is running away from the battle, he goes to him to get an easy kill.
  • Impales Invincible as he is being choked by him.
  • After impaling Invincible, he drives his robotic hand into Invincible's guts in an attempt to kill him.
  • Despite dying at the hands of Invincible, he was able to put Invincible into a coma and prevent the hero from joining the Viltrumite War for 8 months.

What Prevents Him from Being Pure Evil?[]

  • He relies too much on off-page villainy as the planets he assimilated are only mentioned and have little importance to the plot. The rest of his crimes generally don't go further beyond brutal acts of violence towards the heroes, something that is relatively standard for the series.
  • He was given a funeral by Omni-Man himself, making his death somewhat sympathetic. Omni-Man states that Conquest used to be a great Viltrumite warrior in the past and won many battles for the Empire before he eventually lost his way.

Trivia[]

  • Conquest is the only Near Pure Evil in the Invincible comics.
