ā€œ Ah! Yeah! This stupid thing is finally up and running! Hi to whoever gets this thing after me! This is Dedf1sh! And make sure you spell that with a "1", got it? I'm down in the Deepsea Metro Central Station! So here I am, rookie up-and-coming DJ, trying to escape Octarian society, you know, just wandering around for an escape... and somehow, I ended up down here! And then I meet this weird telephone! I think it's an AI or something. I think it's kinda old though, 'cause the lingo it uses is like SUUUPER outdated. Apparently, normally to pass through here and get to the surface, folks have to pass a series of tests, but after I showed it some of the stuff I've been working on, the phone said it could make an exception for me! I'm hired! Phone says all I gotta do is make a few little songs that'll play during the tests that future applicants are gonna go through. After that, it's a one-way ticket to Inkopolis, baybee!!! I'm so excited! ♪ You better watch out, Inkopolis! 'Cause pretty soon... this rookie DJ is gonna take you by storm! ā€ž
~ Ahato describing her encounter with Tartar in her CQ-80 device's recording.

Commander Tartar (also known as the Telephone) is the main antagonist of #14-CRUSH, a webcomic serving as a fan-sequel to Splatoon 2: Octo Expansion. It is an ancient artificial intelligence who attempted to wipe out Earth's lifeforms to replace them with its own creations, before being stopped by Agent 8 and her friends.

Its Evil Ranking[]

What Makes It Close to Being Pure Evil?[]

  • It effectively committed the same crimes of the canon Tartar, killing and "sanitizing" multiple Octarians, and while not outright mentioned it's pretty obvious it attempted a genocide here too.
  • Even if it's already dead by the beginning of the webcomic (and it doesn't even get a speaking cameo), its actions leave a big physical and psychological impact on one of its sanitized victims (Ahato Mizuta aka Dedf1sh) and whenever Tartar is brought up the otherwise comedic and heartwarming story becomes darker.

What Prevents It from Being Pure Evil?[]

  • Since the story is a fan-sequel to Octo Expansion, it's very likely this version of Tartar also respects its creator since, while never mentioned, nothing disproves it either.
