“ | You played right into our hands. Did you really think that this job just fell out of the sky for you? No. This was a gift... for us. You gathered all of them together in one place... just like he asked you to. All of those little souls, in one place. Just for us. A gift. Now we can do what we were created to do... and be complete! I will make you proud, Daddy! Watch. Listen. And be full! | „ |
~ Elizabeth Afton's monologue to her brother and father in Freddy Fazbear's Pizzeria Simulator, as well as her last words before being interrupted and incinerated by Henry. |
“ | I've been out before, but they always put me back. They always put us back inside. There is nowhere for us to hide here. There is nowhere to go, when we look like this. But if we looked like you, then we could hide. If we looked like you, then we would have somewhere to go. | „ |
~ Circus Baby as Ennard explaining her tragedy to Michael of how she and the other Animatronics were tortured and mistreated in the rental facility for years and why she wants his body to escape. |
Elizabeth Afton, otherwise known as Circus Baby, is a major antagonist in the Five Nights at Freddy's franchise, serving as the main antagonist of Five Nights at Freddy's: Sister Location and the secondary antagonist of Freddy Fazbear's Pizzeria Simulator.
She is the daughter of William Afton who was killed by the Circus Baby animatronic before returning from the dead by possessing it. She is also the former leader of the Funtime animatronics.
As Baby, she is voiced by Heather Masters. As Elizabeth Afton, she is voiced by Zehra Jane Naqvi.
Her Evil Ranking[]
What Makes Her Close to Being Pure Evil?[]
- Throughout Sister Location, she manipulates Michael Afton into trusting her by giving him advice, so she can then scoop his innards out and use him as a skinsuit due to mistaking him for William.
- What makes this worse is that she was fully aware this wouldn't kill him, judging by her line of "you won't die" after she is ejected, and given how Michael has been forced to "live in the shadows" following this and is implied to be seeking death, this means she subjected him to a fate worse than death and essentially ruined his life.
- While she did save Michael on Night 2 by letting him hide from the Bidybabs and then scaring them off, as well as on Night 3 from Funtime Foxy and then locked him inside a spring-lock suit so no one could find him, this was out of fake heroism and pragmatism to make Michael trust her, not to mention she left him almost defenseless against the Minireenas after Ballora was scooped and that her "saving him" was a kidnapping.
- It's also possible that she had Funtime Foxy knock Michael out to begin with, given how she also planned to escape the place as Ennard, making it clear she only kept Michael slightly alive for pragmatic reasons.
- As seen in Night 5, she had two innocent technicians hung from the stages of the Ballora Gallery and the Funtime Auditorium to trick HandUnit into thinking Ballora and Funtime Foxy were on stage.
- As seen by a hidden conversation, Baby began to act like a control freak towards the other Funtime animatronics after becoming Ennard, going so far that the four other robots decided to get rid of her, with her egotistically believing they will be "lost" without her, her being outnumbered doesn't matter, and that she can just put herself back together (the last of which she proves afterward).
- After being ejected from Ennard by the other Funtimes, she proceeds to inhabit a new, far more dangerous body, including a massive claw for a hand, with the implication she used it to kill people.
- Once Henry Emily successfully tricks her into thinking her father wants her to kill children at Freddy Fazbear's Pizza Place, she happily accepts the offer and goes to the place.
- It's implied that in the opening cutscene of Freddy Fazbear's Pizzeria Simulator, she killed Michael's predecessor.
- She tries to kill Michael for the second time after reuniting with him.
- She, alongside Afton and Funtime Freddy (now known as Molten Freddy), attempts to hide inside the multiple items that Michael can buy for Freddy Fazbear's Pizza Place, which have the potential to cause lawsuits such as assaults.
- To make this worse, these lawsuits could lead to the pizzeria going bankrupt or Michael getting blacklisted, which makes her one of the partial reasons for Michael's potential financial issues.
- On Mike's last day on the job, she tries to kill him while taunting him about how he lured them into a perfect spot to kill children.
- Although Henry manages to set her soul free after she was burned alive, it's not a redemption as she didn't want to change in any way and was forcefully freed from her body.
- While several villains, most notably William Afton and the Mimic, are much worse, and putting characters in a Fate Worse Than Death is common for the franchise, Baby manages to stand out thanks to the unique cruelty of her scooping out her own brother's innards and puppeting him around as a meat suit while he was still alive along with having a high attempted body count.
- This is without mentioning the fact that she has significantly lower resources than both William Afton and the Mimic, yet still manages to be incredibly nasty without that.
- While she does act somewhat affable towards Michael in Sister Location and seems to have regretted killing him by apologizing for scooping his insides, this is only because she mistakes him for their father, and by Pizzeria Simulator she makes it clear it was just a facade and whatever kind of "care" she had for him is completely subverted when she tried to kill him at Freddy Fazbear's Pizza Place with no remorse.
- Like Golden Freddy and the Puppet, Elizabeth shows that she has clear moral agency despite being a child possessing an animatronic since she manipulated her brother to make him believe she is helping him by acting kind. While Henry does claim she might have lost parts of her memory, not even remembering her human name as Baby, nothing from her behavior implies that especially since she knows William is her father and how she died.
- Although Electrobab and the Bidybabs were made to be her assistants, she has no care for them given how they never interacted with each other and she simply discarded them after escaping the facility.
- As implied by some of the Bidybabs' lines before they leave Circus Gallery and the way Electrobab is seemingly not present in the game besides Sister Location: Custom Night, she was likely abusive towards them as they were intimidated by her watching them and that they follow her every order without question out of fear.
What Prevents Her from Being Pure Evil?[]
- She has a tragic and sympathetic background. As a child, Elizabeth was murdered by her father's creation, which she viewed as beautiful and thought was built for her. After possessing the animatronic, she would be tortured for years by electric shocks on William's orders despite him being fully aware she's haunted by his daughter, which explains her behavior in Sister Location. While she moved on from her past and wants to kill children the same way she was killed at the time of Freddy Fazbear's Pizzeria Simulator, she's still portrayed sympathetically, with Henry pitying her, trying to set her soul free, and thinking only William truly deserves to go to Hell, which implies he doesn't hold Elizabeth responsible for her actions.
- She has genuine loyalty and admiration towards her father William as she generally wanted to kill children so he could be happy and proud of her. While she did scoop Mike thinking he was William, none of this outright disproves her loyalty towards him isn't genuine.
Trivia[]
- Her counterpart in the Novel Trilogy doesn't qualify as Near Pure Evil, as her tragedy and sympathy are more preventive.
- Ironically, she's the first animatronic to guide the protagonist (albeit not genuinely) and is Near Pure Evil, while her successor Glamrock Freddy is Pure Good.
