| NOTE: See here for his TV counterpart. |
| “ | The thing is, I want to make this abundantly clear-- we don't do this because we want to. It's important to me that you know that. There aren't a lot of us left-- living people. If there were anything else we could do to get by-- we'd do it. There isn't. Food is scarce... If we weren't doing this, we'd starve to death. I hate to say it, but it's me or you... And whenever that's the situation-- It's very easy to choose me. No offense. | „ |
| ~ Chris explaining to Rick Grimes why he and his Hunters became cannibals. |
Chris is a minor antagonist in Robert Kirkman’s graphic novel series The Walking Dead, serving as the main antagonist of Volume 11: Fear the Hunters.
He is the leader of a group of cannibals named The Hunters.
His Evil Ranking[]
What Makes Him Close to Being Pure Evil?[]
- When food started becoming scarce, he and his group resorted to cannibalism. He even says that "loners were pieces of cake and groups of five or less were doable", showing he has no qualms with killing and eating people.
- He revealed that they started by eating their own children that were in their group, and it is heavily implied some of them were Chris’ own.
- He had two of his members, Greg and Charlie, stalk Rick’s group to find their shelter, and had them kidnap Dale to cut off his leg and eat it in front of him, and Chris taunts Dale while they do so.
- He drops Dale off on the front step of the church Rick’s group is hiding out in, and had one member shoot Glenn in the leg as an intimidation move, wanting to kill and eat Rick and his group members.
- He sadistically toyed with Rick during negations.
- While they did start resorting to cannibalism due to scarce food, they actively don't choose to hunt animals due to viewing it as a waste of time, which brings their misery on them.
- Although he and his group are mercilessly slaughtered by Rick and his people, their deaths aren't sympathetic in the slightest and they arguably deserve it for their crimes.
What Prevents Him from Being Pure Evil?[]
- When revealing that he and the group ate their own children, he started silently crying, showing he was at least somewhat remorseful for it. However, it is a relatively minor prevention, since he later says killing their children made it easier for them to murder people without second thought and he still saw it as justified.
- When Dale started crying after having his leg chopped off and eaten, Chris felt bad and genuinely apologized to him.
Trivia[]
- His TV counterpart is considered less heinous overall, due to having a tragic backstory, as well as genuine care for his family and fellow cannibals.
