His Evil Ranking[]
What Makes Him Close to Being Pure Evil?[]
- He kidnapped fifteen-year old Ariel Peterson and raped her, just to conceive a child of his. Both of them would be kept in his secret basement for years, secluded of sunlight and society just to serve as Vaughn's family.
- This action drove the mother of Ariel Peterson mad. Vaughn knew this and saw everyday how Heather Peterson slowly descended into insanity, but he didn't even bat an eye.
- He is also indirectly responsible for Benny committing suicide even though Allison was the one to frame him for hurting his daughter, he still knew he was innocent but allowed the town to antagonize him to death.
- He used his position as the chief to delete important evidence that could lead to him. When his plans are finally unraveling, Vaughn kills Marjorie Travers (his lover and protegeé) with an overdose just to cover his tracks.
- He doesn't truly love his wife and it is heavily implied he mentally abuses her and brainwashed her to keep his secret as well as be completely obedient to him.
- He tries to kill Ariel and his son Jake by turning them on fire along with him. He repents at the end, but he was about to do it.
- Despite not being the only rapist in the series (albeit the first), his is known to be the worst of them since he commited it against an underage girl, driving her mother mad in the process.
What Prevents Him from Being Pure Evil?[]
- He cried while killing Marjorie Travers, proving that he cared for her at least a bit and felt remorse for doing it, only killing her thanks to being pushed to the edge. This action isn't subverted by the end of the series.
