His Evil Ranking[]
What Makes Him Close to Being Pure Evil?[]
- He wages a bloody war of retribution against the white settlers during which he ravages white homestead, killing and scalping the women and male children and carrying off the female children as wives for his men, killing those who resist. Judging from his large collection of scalps, he has done this dozens of times at the very least.
- He is introduced attacking the Edwards homestead, luring away the men by stealing and butchering livestock before attacking, killing and scalping Aaron Edwards, his wife Martha and their son Ben after presumably raping Martha before taking Lucy and eight-year-old Debbie as sex slaves.
- Allows his men to rape and kill Lucy when she resists, leaving her body lying around in order to provoke his pursuers into riding into an ambush. This results in the death of Lucy's fiancée Brad Jorgensen when he rides into the ambush in a blind rage.
- Several other women taken and raped by Cicatriz's tribe are shown held in a military fort after being rescued, all clearly traumatized from what they had to endure.
- When Debbie is found, she has been forced to become Cicatriz's wife and developed Stockholm Syndrome, leaving her unable to leave his tribe.
- While negotiating with Ethan and Martin, he provokes them by wearing Martha's scalp around his neck during the discussion before sending his men out after them to kill and scalp them.
What Prevents Him from Being Pure Evil?[]
- His backstory is relatively sympathetic, as he was driven to war when white people invaded his tribe's lands and murdered his sons.
- The conflict between Cicatriz and the whites is portrayed as realistically grey, with acknowledgement that the white settlers are essentially invading his land and commit many atrocities against the Comanche, making it questionable if he passes the system standards.
