Because all there are now are remakes. Only horror studios green-light. I mean, there are still rules, but the rules have changed. The unexpected is the new cliché.
~ Charlie Walker to his fellow Cinema club members, secretly hiding his motivations.
Kirby, this is making a move. Four years of class together, and you notice me now?! Stupid bitch! It's too late! Shhh... I know, I know... It's ok, take your time. Doesn't happen as fast as it does in the movies, honey.
~ Charlie Walker stabbing Kirby Reed, revealing that he's Ghostface.

Charles "Charlie" Walker is the secondary antagonist of the 2011 slasher film Scream 4, the fourth installment of the Scream film series.

He is Woodsboro High president of the Cinema club, and as it later turns out, the secret lover and accomplice of Jill Roberts. In 2011, Charlie assists her in killing their classmates in a "remake" of the Woodsboro killing spree Billy Loomis and Stu Macher orchestrated years ago just so Jill can become famous like her hated cousin Sidney Prescott.

He was portrayed by Rory Culkin. While in-disguise, he was voiced by Roger L. Jackson. For his in-costume scenes as Ghostface, he was portrayed by Dane Farwell.

His Evil Ranking[]

What Makes Him Close to Being Pure Evil?[]

  • He helped Jill Roberts kill her mother and their classmates to "remake" Billy and Stu's killing spree just so Jill can become famous like her cousin Sidney Prescott.
  • He planned to help Jill frame her ex-boyfriend Trevor Sheldon for all their killings.
  • He killed Marnie Cooper by stabbing her multiple times and throwing her through a window.
  • He killed Jenny Randall by crushing her back with a garage door and then stabbing her to death.
  • He brutally killed Olivia Morris through gutting her while her friends could only watch in horror, in what is by far the most graphic death in the franchise.
  • After Jill stabbed Officer Hoss and Officer Perkins, Charlie drove away their bodies and stabbed them multiple times to make sure they were dead, and later gave their gun to Jill at the climax.
  • He killed Robbie, his best friend, in a rage after Trevor interrupted a kiss between him and Kirby Reed.
  • He stabbed Kirby for rejecting him and, as revealed in Scream VI, she was actually dead for 4 minutes before being brought back, but Charlie had no way to know that Kirby would survive as his intent was clearly to kill her.
    • In addition to having done this for such a petty reason, Kirby would be left with a nasty scar still freshly visible more than ten years after the stab and spent some time recovering until becoming an FBI agent to stop killers like Charlie.
  • He held Sidney hostage alongside Jill and makes her watch as Jill kills Trevor.
  • While he was betrayed and murdered by Jill, it doesn't make him a scapegoat since he deserved it due to his many brutal murders.
    • It's also shown that while he was loyal to Jill, he still had a second motive independently from her, which was sexual frustration.
  • Despite the high Heinous Standards, he stands out since he and Jill have the highest kill count out of any Ghostface duo, with Charlie specifically being by far one of the most brutal killers in the movies yet, which allows him to stand out from Roman Bridger and Jill, despite their matricide and personal villainy.

What Prevents Him from Being Pure Evil?[]

  • He genuinely loved Jill, as he aided her in the killing spree just to date her and be the new Randy Meeks with "Randy getting the girl this time", and he was visibly heartbroken over her betraying and killing him simply to be the "sole survivor" of the killings, which makes it incredibly shocking as to how vile Jill herself is. Although he deserved it, him being betrayed and used by Jill like that made him slightly sympathetic.
  • He has slight remorse for stabbing Kirby Reed, he also instead chooses to injure her with his stabs rather than killing her like his other victims. This shows that he never really got over his past feelings for her.

Trivia[]

  • The casting call for Charlie Walker states: "Messy cute. Friends with Jill, Trevor, Robbie, Kirby, and Olivia. A little cocky, he likens himself to Randy Meeks from the first three Scream movies without the nerd part. With no such luck, he’s definitely a nerd". However, this description was given only to hide his Near Pure Evil status.
