Charlie is the secondary antagonist of the 2012 film Jack Reacher. He works for the mobster, The Zec, and serves as his right-hand man and assassin.

He was portrayed by Jai Courtney.

His Evil Ranking[]

What Makes Him Close To Being Pure Evil?[]

  • He works for the Russian gangster, the Zec who uses a construction company as a front. Charlie murders people for him and follows his orders, no matter how evil they are.
  • Under the Zec's orders, Charlie murders five innocent people with a sniper because the murder of one of them, who is an owner of a local construction company, would benefit his boss. The other four are random people who are murdered simply to make it look like the murders were done by a crazed spree killer and not by someone who has a motive, so the Police wouldn't suspect them.
    • He frames former soldier James Barr for the murders by planting false evidence for the Police to find. The reason for this is because James Barr is a mentally unstable loner who in the past had killed four of his fellow soldiers but that act was covered up because the killed soldiers were rapists who had just raped and it would look very bad for the USA military, and Charlie counts on the fact that, because of this, it wouldn't be hard for the authorities to believe that Barr was the one who had committed the current murders. What's worse is that Charlie learns about this backstory by getting close to James Barr and pretending to be his friend and then he uses it to frame him for his own murders even though James Barr would get either the death penalty or life imprisonment for that.
  • When one of their henchmen, Linksy, fails him and the Zec, Charlie shoots him dead on the Zec's orders after Linksy fails to bite off the fingers of one of his hands as the Zec had instructed him.
  • He kills a young woman named Sandy by suffocating her because she knows information that could jeopardize him and his boss' plans.
  • He kidnaps the attorney Helen who has become friends with Jack Reacher. Then, Charlie calls Jack Reacher himself and threatens him that if he doesn't arrive at his and his boss' hideout in one hour, he would kill Helen.
  • When Jack Reacher and a gun range owner named Cash attack the hideout, Charlie personally engages Reacher in a fight and tries to kill him which ends with Reacher killing Charlie by stomping his head in.
    • While his death is brutal, it's not played for sympathy and he deserved it for his actions.
  • Although he obeys the Zec and never considers betraying him, it's never made clear if it's out of genuine loyalty or because the Zec is paying him.

What Prevents Him From Being Pure Evil?[]

  • He slightly fails the Heinous Standard to his boss, the Zec, because all of Charlie's murders are committed under the Zec's orders. Furthermore, the Zec has a nasty tendency of forcing henchmen who have failed him to try to chew off the fingers of one of their hands to prove to him that they are worthy to live only to be revealed the Zec knows no one would be able to pass the test and it's just a routine before he murders them anyway. However, he doesn't fail the Heinous Standard too much to be NPE because he is the right-hand man to the Zec and all of the murders the Zec orders throughout the film are personally carried out by Charlie.
