Cath: Hey, Arthur! Are you really shocked to this degree? About losing your country and you people? All countries eventually fall. Even if the Demon King and Seven Deadly Sins hadn't done it, something was bound to happen to it, eventually. Hmm. A giant meteor could have struck it and wiped it off the map, or it could have sunk into the sea and vanished. The possibilities are endless!
Arthur: What are you getting at?
Cath: I'm saying the outcome is always the same.
~ Cath Palug trying to send Arthur Pendragon into despair.
I'm warning you to quit fighting what is obviously inevitable. No matter which route you take, everyone is eventually going to die, you know? That goes for humans, animals, countries, mountains, forests, lakes, rivers, starts, and even gods!
~ Cath Palug to Arthur Pendragon.

Cath Palug is a major antagonist of the Seven Deadly Sins anime/manga. He is seemingly the pet of Arthur Pendragon until it is revealed he is a descendent of Chaos who obsesses over its power. He initially served as a supporting character throughout the series until the King of Chaos arc where he becomes the main antagonist following the Demon King's defeat.

In Japanese, he was voiced by Aoi Yūki. In English he was voiced by Abby Trott, who also voiced young Indra Ōtsutsuki from Naruto.

His Evil Ranking[]

What Makes Him Close to Being Pure Evil?[]

  • Was such a horrible and sadistic tyrant, the Goddesses had to banish him from their dimension.
  • Tried to steal the power of Chaos so it can sadistically destroy any life forms.
  • Sadistically ate Peronia alive, a low-ranking demon.
  • Pretended to be Arthur's (who is technically a child) companion solely due to knowing he would inherit the power of Chaos. He would later lower his guard then eat off his arm for power. He had no attachment to Arthur, thinking of him as only a snack.
  • Sadistically mocked Arthur about his kingdom being destroyed in hopes of destroying his hope to live.
    • It is possible that this is what turned Arthur into the misanthropic, genocidal tyrant he is in the sequel, hating all life forms other than humans due to this message.
  • During his fight, he places the six remaining Seven Deadly Sins and Elizabeth in illusions as hope to kill them due to the distraction. In Meliodas's case, he makes him dream of growing old with Elizabeth until her death. After Elizabeth's death, he appears to attack the kingdom and mocks Meliodas for being alone, hoping to eat away at his psyche, knowing that Meliodas is heartbroken over losing Elizabeth constantly.
  • Attempted to kill the Seven Deadly Sins by eating them alive, which would've succeeded if not for Arthur.
  • Unlike many villains who have redeeming qualities, Cath wants to destroy the world simply because he can.

What Prevents Him from Being Pure Evil?[]

  • He suffers from some moral agency issues since Merlin states that he is the destructive will of Chaos itself. This is considered minor, nevertheless, by the fact that he has a clear personality and intelligence.
