“ | You already know rogue Ricks used Mortys to hide themselves from the Citadel, but you might not know it worked so well that the Citadel became its own Morty market, and I'm sure you don't know how far they've gone to help supply meet demand. Sure, Ricks can scour infinity for naturally-occurring grandsons, but why bother? So much work. Such an admission of need. There aren't infinite versions of our grandfather, Morty. He's an infinite smear of one sh**ty old man, and he's attached to us infinitely through his weakness and our forgiveness. This is why we're with him. This is why we're alive. | „ |
~ Evil Morty telling Morty Prime about the agony that several Mortys, likely including himself, have gone through at the hands of their grandfathers. |
“ | You don't know how I suffered, but you will! I'll show you what Thomas Wayne did to me, to my family! | „ |
~ Lady Arkham to Bruce Wayne after he tells her that he would have fought for her because of her suffering. |
“ | Pochita: Denji, I want you to grant the Control Devil's dream too. The Control Devil, she always wanted to form an equal relationship with others. She could only form relationship through fear. So, she always longed for something like a family. That's the kind of world she wanted to create, even if she went about, it wrongs the way. So, you create that world for her, okay? Denji: Pochita, how do I? Pochita: Give her lots of hugs. |

~ Pochita telling Denji about Makima's true motivation and endgame. |
Near Pure Evils who, despite being extremely evil and heinous, are sympathetic due to one or more factors.
This includes:
- Villains who have a genuine tragedy, usually in the form of a Freudian excuse that caused them to become evil, such as being heavily abused (physically, psychologically, sexually, etc.), growing up in poverty or war, losing loved ones, etc. (e.g. Lady Arkham, Riddler, Thanos, Sephiroth, General Shepherd, Teru Mikami, and Evil Morty).
- Villains who have redeeming qualities/mitigating factors and/or humanizing moments that paint them in a sympathetic light due to showing a nicer side to them (e.g. Baek Jun Ki, Superman (Injustice), Esdeath, Killian, Hiro Shishigami, Abigail Lazar, and Tiffany Valentine).
- Villains who are shown to be insecure about one or more things, which is played for sympathy (e.g. Master Chen, Lou, Jack Merridew, Lord Shen, Lucifer, and Bluey).
- Villains whose defeats, deaths or some other horrific events are portrayed sympathetically (e.g. Alex DeLarge, All For One, Big Smoke, Count Olaf, Niles, Envy, Monty de la Cruz, The Lich, Oh Il-Nam, Ricardo Irving and Isaac Grossman).
- Villains who have a combination of all four mentioned factors (e.g. Johan Liebert, Makima, Cletus Kasady, Grant Ward, Clay Puppington, Simon Laurent, the Penguin, and Barty Crouch Jr., Imhotep).
It should be noted that these villains should not be too sympathetic, otherwise it will outweigh their villainy and prevent them from being Near Pure Evil.
NOTE: Not every villain that has a Freudian Excuse or is insecure falls under this category, as despite this the story may choose not to give them any sympathy at all, or eventually invalidate it (e.g. Dr. Starline, Prometheus, Kai Chisaki, Queen Ingrith, Mark Hoffman, Bowser (Movie), Tighten, Doma, Earl of Lemongrab, Adam, and PAL).
Their good counterparts are Sympathetic Near Pure Good Heroes.
