I'd like to share a revelation that I've had during my time here. It came to me when I tried to classify your species and I realized that you're not actually mammals. Every mammal on this planet instinctively develops a natural equilibrium with the surrounding environment, but you humans do not. You move to an area and you... multiply and multiply until every natural resource is consumed. The only way you can survive is to spread to another area. There is another organism on this planet that follows the same pattern. Do you know what it is? A virus. Human beings are a disease, a cancer of this planet; you are a plague and we are the cure.
~ Agent Smith to Morpheus.
In reality, humans who live virtuously and decently suffer irrational tragedies. While evil people do what they want because they live insane, interesting lives and drink sweet nectar. "Since these people are not getting divine punishment, at the very least they'll got to hell when they die." That's what mentally weak people have to think, or they wouldn't be able to live with themselves, right? They keep it deep in their minds. Humans are so pitiful.
~ Doma expressing his opinions on the right and wrong to Kanao Tsuyuri and Inosuke Hashibira.
You humans don’t make any sense to me. You throw away your lives for nothing.
~ Envy after killing Hughes.

Misanthropes are Near Pure Evils who possess an extreme hatred for humanity and/or their species of origin. Misanthropy can lead to villains committing terrible crimes as they no longer have compassion towards their fellow people and in fact despise them. If the Near Pure Evil goes too far, they may eventually become a Cataclysm.

Examples are Agent Smith, Master Xandred, Undergrowth, Doma, Protoboy, Hiro Shishigami, Madara Uchiha, Kars, Bane, and Nightmare.

Note: If a Near Pure Evil shows hatred for a few people, but doesn't harbor any hatred against humanity, they do not count. Those should go under Archenemies, Xenophobes, Abusers, Delusional and/or Rivals instead. To qualify as a misanthrope, a Near Pure Evil has to show hatred for everyone, not just a few innocent people.
