Which would you rather have, the crouton or the entire Caesar salad? Of course, we will eat the mice, but only after we have exploited their labors. We are nice to the mice because it is intelligent to be so. See, if we talk sweetly, they will come in droves. If we hiss, they will run and we will have to chase after them, an unnecessary expenditure of calories.
~ Cat R. Waul explaining his plan to his henchmen.
Tari, was it? No need to panic. Forgive me for that unpleasantness, understand that it was not my intention.
~ Derek Lucks feigning kindness towards Tari.

Near Pure Evils who fake kindness or politeness, generally to taunt, inspire, or manipulate others.

Note: Not all NPEs are Faux Affably Evil or Minor Affably Evil, some are always Equally Hostile towards everyone without showing false courtesy (e.g. Kid Buu, Poseidon, Master Xandred, Randall, Michael Myers (Remake), and Majora).

  • However, this does not apply to villains who are normally hostile to everyone if they are superficially polite to at least one person.
  • Also, if a villain is truly affable only to the people they care about or select few, but is not genuinely polite to anyone else, (e.g. Kai Chisaki, Chris Mclean, Jun Gi Baek, William Afton, Lalo Salamanca, Lydia Rodarte-Quayle, Riddler, Kars, Ultron and Screenslaver), then they still fall under this category.
  • This category can also include villains who were truly affable at first towards others regardless of preference, before losing their overall affable nature afterwards. Carter Verone is a good example.

They are the opposites to Near Pure Goods who are False Antagonists or Misguided.
