False Lovers

False lovers are characters who are either in a relationship or who seek a relationship with another character, but who do not genuinely love or secretly hate said character. Though Near Pure Evils can be genuinely in love, there are also several who are not truly in love, even if they appear to be. They are either only faking their love (typically for manipulation or personal gain), or that their "love" is out of obsession, egotism, and/or lust. Therefore, Near Pure Evils which show Yandere tendencies should never be added here. Yandere Near Pure Evils should definitely go to In Love.

It is possible for a false lover to have been truly in love at one point, but they must eventually subvert this love by having their love degenerate into one of the above examples. (e.g. Tighten)

Examples: Erik Killmonger, Malty S. Melromarc, Billy Loomis, Kyosuke Higuchi, Montgomery de la Cruz, Neyla and Bowser.

They are a darker counterpart of In Love and an opposite NPGs who are in love.

NOTE: Near Pure Evils who truly love only one person, even with fake love with other people, still cannot fall into this category. (Examples: Baek Jun Ki, Riba and Douma)
