Carnage is an antagonist of the 2012 animated series Ultimate Spider-Man, serving as the main antagonist of The Symbiote Saga.
It's a symbiote created by Michael Morbius from a piece of Agent Venom's symbiote. After being liberated by his creator, Carnage tries to take over New York City and infects Mary Jane Watson, Spider-Man's love interest.
It was voiced by Dee Bradley Baker, who also voiced the Lighthouse Keeper in What's New, Scooby-Doo?, Admiral Trench in Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Ra's al Ghul in the Batman: Arkham franchise, Brainiac in LEGO Batman 2: DC Super Heroes and Evil Julian in Randy Cunningham: 9th Grade Ninja, and Fred Tatasciore, who also voiced Gatō in the English dub of Naruto, The Mawgu in Nicktoons: Battle for Volcano Island, Warden Kuril in Mass Effect 2, CLU 2 in TRON: Uprising, the Red Hulk in The Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes, an armored Lord Dominator in Wander Over Yonder, Diego Gómez in Resident Evil: Vendetta and Shao Kahn in the Mortal Kombat Legends films. As Carnage Queen, it was voiced by Tara Strong, who also voiced Penelope Spectra in Danny Phantom.
Its Evil Ranking[]
What Makes It Close to Being Pure Evil?[]
- Carnage demonstrates a clearer personality compared to the other symbiotes in the series, being able to talk even without a host and laughing sadistically.
- Upon possessing Doctor Octopus, it tries to kill Peter Parker/Spider-Man and Flash Thompson/Agent Venom and continues even after being separated from its host.
- When Spider-Man and Agent Venom make it explode, Carnage spreads pieces of itself throughout New York City, infecting nearly all of its inhabitants, all of which maintain the same sadistic and chaotic personality of the symbiote upon being infected.
- Some of its infected hosts attempt to kill Harry Osborn while the latter is in coma, likely because Carnage felt Harry had the Anti-Venom symbiote inside of him and thus could be a threat to its own existence.
- After being seemingly destroyed by Anti-Venom, Carnage's pieces form one gigantic Carnage, who proceeds to infect Spider-Man's school building, while also turning Mary Jane Watson into the Carnage Queen and creating new and more dangerous variants of itself.
- Carnage doesn't show loyalty even to its own creator as the Carnage Queen attacks Morbius and the latter has to mind control her to force Carnage to work with him.
- While Mary Jane manages to use the piece of Carnage that remained bound to her to become the heroine Spider-Woman, this doesn't count as a real redemption since Carnage's helping her only because Mary Jane learnt to control it, making it a forced redemption.
What Prevents It from Being Pure Evil?[]
- Carnage is ultimately a bioweapon created to bring destruction, giving it moral agency issues. However, seeing its personality is clearer compared to others of its kind, this is a minor prevention.
Trivia[]
- So far, this is the only incarnation of the Carnage symbiote to be Near Pure Evil.
- It's the only Ultimate Spider-Man villain to be Near Pure Evil.
