Cackletta, referred to as Bowletta after possessing Bowser, is the main antagonist of Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga and its remake. She also appears as the overarching antagonist of Minion Quest: The Search for Bowser.

What Makes Her Close to Being Pure Evil?[]
- She attempted to steal Princess Peach's voice so she could use it on the Beanstar for world domination.
- She successfully replaced who she believed to be Princess Peach's voice, really Birdo, with explosives. She also did so while disguised as an ambassador from the Beanbean Kingdom, meaning she would have brought her homeland and the Mushroom Kingdom into conflict if Prince Peasley had not warned Peach beforehand.
- She ordered Fawful to take care of Mario, Luigi and Bowser. In the end, Fawful destroyed Koopa Cruiser and nearly killed three koopa pilots.
- She transformed Prince Peasley into a dragon after Fawful lured him into their trap. Presumably, she knew that the guards would be sent to locate him, which would make her future assault on the town much easier.
- She and Fawful destroyed the Beanbean Castle Town and have injured a few people, if not worse.
- She and Fawful brainwashed Queen Bean into fighting Mario and Luigi.
- In collaboration with Fawful, she transformed at least 18 scientists at Woohoo Hooniversity into mindless monsters. Unlike Prince Peasley's or Queen Bean's, the curse placed upon them was irreversible, effectively erasing their former selves.
- After being defeated by Mario, and Luigi, she possessed Bowser after finding him with Fawful, now getting much more access as the Queen of Koopas.
- She manipulated Mario and Luigi into giving to her the restored Beanstar so she could use Peach to wake up the Beanstar and get the wish to conquer the world.
- She had Bowser's minions brainwashed during the events of Bowser's Minions.
- She once again laid waste to the town using Bowser's flying castle, with the intention of murdering every single resident to secure her conquest (something Fawful confirmed). Additionally, she planned to extend her dominion over the Mushroom Kingdom and possibly the rest of the world, likely to do the same.
- She tricked the Mario Bros into thinking that they had beat her during their second fight, only for her to detonate a time-bomb behind them, knocking them out, and only gloated about her victory.
- Confident she finished them, she swallows Mario and Luigi as a reward for her victory and tried to kill them again as a soul when she realized they are still alive.
- Despite having some comedic moments, she is still taken seriously in-universe, with some of these comedic moments showing how sadistic and vile she is.
- Although she might fall short by Bowser's harsh standards, especially considering he's turned many Toads into bricks, a fate arguably worse than death, this plot point doesn’t appear to carry over in the Mario & Luigi series. Originally, Goombas were depicted as former Mushroom Kingdom residents who lived alongside Toads until Bowser’s conquests began. However, Partners in Time contradicts this, showing that even in the distant past, Goombas were never part of Mushroom Kingdom civilization.
What Prevents Her from Being Pure Evil?[]
- While comparing her to villains like the Dark Star and Reclusa is unfair in scales of power, she still fails the heinous standards to Princess Shroob and her sister, who were much more brutal and merciless toward Mushroom Kingdom's inhabitants. Additionally, Cackletta's attack on the Beanbean Kingdom was never confirmed to have killed anyone, meaning that some of her actions rely on Fridge Horror.
- There is strong evidence that she has a villainous friendship with Fawful (kindly asking him to perform a final attack for her after she is sucked into his headgear), seemingly showing concern for him when he is whacked on the head by Luigi. She also never disrespects him (at one point applauding him for doing well) and summons a phantom version of Fawful to fight Mario and Luigi in the final battle, indicating that she does care for him. Fawful in turn is loyal to her though he does wonder if he should be more than just a toady, hence his decision to be the main villain in Bowser's Inside Story.
Trivia[]
- In the prototype of the game, it is revealed Cackletta and Queen Bean were supposed to be sisters. Had this been kept in the final product it would have made Cackletta worse due to family cruelty she would inflict on her sister and nephew.
