How do you I know I don't have a dozen more just like it? It's a big sea.
~ Blake Wells boasting that he may more victim dump sites.

Blake Wells is a major antagonist in the crime-drama TV series Criminal Minds. He is a serial killer who appears as the main antagonist of the Season 6 episode "Big Sea".

He was portrayed by Karl Makinen.

His Evil Ranking[]

What makes him Close to Pure Evil?[]

  • Being abused by his father, he eventually killed him by brutally torturing him by supposedly forcing him to stab himself to do death and being confirmed to have wounded him so badly, his bones broke.
  • He killed at least 13 people by using trilomide on them to force them into picking a knife out of a collection and torturing themselves by stabbing themselves, where he eventually killed them
    • One time he says "How do you I know I don't have a dozen more just like it? It's a big sea." Meaning he could have several more victims than not found, although it might only be a taunt.
  • When Gary Ryhmer broke out of his cuffs with the assistance of his son, James, he got into a fight with Gary where he ended up drowning him.
  • Forced James Rhymer to work the abuse that his father made him go through, which included making him cut fish and slapping and beating him for dropping the fish.
  • Held James hostage when the BAU and FBI confronted him
  • Sadistically told Derek Morgan about how his victims suffered, physically and emotionally, their names, and eventually, how he killed Cindi, which was revealed to be untrue in season 7 episode 20.

What prevents him from being Pure Evil?[]

  • He might fail the heinous standard to other characters with higher counts, but his unique torture methods allow him to stand out.
  • He has a tragic backstory of being abused by his father for simply working his job, even if he did it correctly, and for making him work long hours with a broken arm until he passed out. In addition, his mother died of breast cancer when Blake was just a child.
  • Blake shows his love for his mother as he starts to tear up when Derek Morgan mentions how she died and Blake retaliated against his father after his mother died.
