Tighten has declared this article is to be renamed to
"Black Mask (Matsudaverse)" for the following reasons:
Name of the universe he is from.
"It's Tighten, not Hal!"

You! You're my new number one. Finish them!
~ Black Mask to his men.

Black Mask is a villain in the TV series The Batman, serving as a recurring antagonist in Seasons 4 and 5.

He is a powerful and cruel crime boss with a vast organization of henchmen. In this version, his mask is irremovable and he has no fingerprints or distinguishing features, making it impossible to identify who this Black Mask is. While never stated, many fans presume he is Roman Sionis.

He was voiced by James Remar.

His Evil Ranking[]

What Makes Him Close to Being Pure Evil?[]

  • He destroyed several entire buildings with a shock wave generator, possibly killing many innocents.
  • He makes his men knock Commissioner Gordon and the rest of the Gotham police force unconscious with a gas, with the intention of making his men release him from prison.
  • He attempted to destroy all of Gotham with the Shockwave Generator, killing millions of innocents in the process.
  • He killed his number 1 henchman just for being slow to rescue him, thus showing that he doesn't care about his men at all.
  • He try to kill Robin and Batgirl, a couple of children.
  • While he does get impresined by Rumor this does not make him a scapegoat as he deserved it for eveyrthing that he did. Not to mention what Batman saves him he fights him and Robin alongside the other villains showing no graditude.
  • He kidnaps Lois Lane and makes Superman reach the building where he is, to later shoot him with a weapon containing red kryptonite, temporarily weakening him and ordering Bane to kill him.
  • He killed his other number 1 henchman by sending him into space, presumably for no reason other than pure cruelty.
  • He floated a train full of innocent people, threatening to kill them all.
  • He attempted to rob the Gotham Gem Depository building by making it float in mid-air, which then causes it to nearly fall towards the city, thus threatening the lives of many innocent people.
  • In the Batman strikes comic series, he betrays Mr Freeze after he helps him freeze many villains.
  • Ultimately, he lacks any redeeming qualities.

What Prevents Him from Being Pure Evil?[]

  • He fails the Heinous Standards compared to Hugo Strange and the Joker, who do worse than him with their lesser resources, including FWTD for the latter. As they also definitely lack the wealth and influence Black Mask counts with, he doesn’t stand out enough with them.
