Bakeneko is a cat youkai based on the real mythological one with the same name. She is a child predator who trafficks kids so other Youkai can feast on them. While doing this shows very high levels of sadism and went unseen for some time. Bakeneko is the main antagonist for the eighth episode of Ninja Sentai Kakuranger.

She is portrayed by Akiko Kitayama.

What Makes Her Close to Being Pure Evil?

• Sent cats into the streets and would attract young children whom she would kidnap and traffic to her store.
• In this store she opened it as a pet store to avoid suspicion but allowed man- eating youkais to have a place to feast on these innocent children.
• Imprisoned these children that she captured and psychologically abused them as being taken and her taunts brought them to tears. All children that she had a hold on were exposed to this treatment.
• It is presumed that she has already slaughtered numerous children by her first appearance and has fed their meat to her Youkai customers.
• When the Kakurangers come to her store and coming close to figuring out her true intentions after reports of missing children, Bakeneko disguises herself as a kind young lady and poisons them with her food. She even proceeds to manipulate their bodies for fun in a torturous and cruel dance for her amusement.
• One of the new children she has captured is put on a table as she brings a knife close to him, hinting that she mutilates on their bodies while they are helpless and are ripped open as they can only accept their deaths while in a petrified state. This boy was only nearly saved by the Kakurangers but despite that was still traumatized.
• When Tsuruhime (Ninja White) frees the children and is about to escape, Bakeneko catches her and plans to burn her to death in a hot kettle for interfering in her business.
• In a last ditch effort to beat the Kakurangers uses a spell to brainwash the children to defend her and essentially act as human shields until said spell is broken.
• Surpasses the heinous standard of other weekly Youkai as while they have only played with humans and attacked them, she has taken the lives of children which is very heinous in the Super Sentai franchise even at that time.

What Prevents Her from Being Pure Evil?

• She isn't as disgusting as the Youkai general Gashadokuro (although the actions above this let her count as NPE, so not by too much) who has killed an innocent child on screen which was taken deeply depraved while on screen as well as saddening when the latter killed the Kakuranger mentor. Seeing that Bakeneko is implied to have killed children off screen it can't be taken as vile as Gashadokuro and the audience and the characters can't feel much horror to the former's action as we never saw it and it isn't taken as greatly important or grave as the latter's ones.
