Near Pure Evil Wiki

Well Liz, your perfect Collins pedigree lacked a bit of substance so I sent the werewolf who bit Carolyn in her crib! Just like I made David no better than a bastard when I sent his mummy to the ocean floor to have tea with the tuna! And as for you, my love, I killed your mother and father! I cursed your family, my Barnabas! They kept us apart! They never understood, we're the same. We're meant to be!
~ Angeligue reveals her vile actions, mocking the Collins family.

Angelique Bouchard is the main antagonist of the horror comedy film Dark Shadows.

She is a vengeful witch who turned Barnabas Collins into a vampire and tormented his family for centuries.

She was portrayed by Eva Green.

Her Evil Ranking[]

What Makes Her Close to Being Pure Evil?[]

  • After Barnabas Collins rejected her, she used dark magic to kill Barnabas’s parents. This drove him into a deep state of misery and grief.
  • When Barnabas fell in love with a woman named Josette, Angelique enacted a curse that would force Josette to fall off a cliff and kill herself. Seeing this, Barnabas is consumed with despair and jumps off the same cliff.
  • She curses Barnabas into becoming a vampire so he could suffer for all eternity.
  • She turned the townspeople of Collinsport against Barnabas, burying him alive for the next 200 years.
  • She took over Collinsport just because she wanted to ruin the Collins family’s heritage.
  • When Barnabas rises from the dead and tries to restore the Collins’s reputation, she goes to the Collins family home and mocks him about his curse.
  • She seduced Barnabas, just to make him feel awful that he slept with the person that cursed him.
  • When she finds out that Barnabas has fallen in love with Victoria Winters, she gets jealous and attempts to curse her.
  • She offers Barnabas a choice: either stay with her forever, or Victoria dies. When he refuses, she buries him alive again.
  • She blows up the Collins Family Company building, causing major damage.
  • She reveals to Collinsport that Barnabas is the one that killed some of their citizens, turning them against the Collins family.
  • When her secret of being a witch is exposed, she attempts to murder the Collins’s.
  • She tells Elizabeth Collins that she is the one that sent a werewolf that bit Carolyn Collins when the latter was just a baby, turning Carolyn herself into a werewolf. She then tells David Collins that she was responsible for drowning his mother.
  • She tries to kill the Collins family by drowning them in blood.
  • After her death, she put a curse on Victoria to kill herself. This would lead Barnabas turning Victoria into a vampire in a desperate attempt to save Victoria’s life.
  • Her love for Barnabas is nothing more than a twisted, lustful obsession for him, explained by Barnabas himself. This is proven by the amount of times she tried to kill him because he rejected her.

What Prevents Her from Being Pure Evil?[]

  • Her death is played for sympathy. Convinced that she actually loved Barnabas, in her final moments, she takes her own heart out to prove her love. When Barnabas refuses, her heart breaks and she dies.
