Her Evil Ranking[]
What Makes Her Close to Being Pure Evil?[]
- She pettily abuses her older son Clive throughout his whole life just because he didn't inherit the powers of the Phoenix.
- She orchestrates an event called The Night of Flames where she gathers turncoats to betray her country and assist the Holy Empire of Sanbreque in sacking Phoenix Gate castle. This results in the deaths of many Rosarian soldiers and civilians as well as the death of her own husband whom she betrayed for power.
- When she learns that her son Clive has survived the attack, she orders him killed at first, but later changes her mind and instead has him enslaved and forced to fight as a frontline soldier for Sanbreque's army out of spite for her dead husband constatntly telling her that Clive is a fine soldier. Because of this, Clive is is sent into battles on the front lines for the next 13 years until he eventually manages to defect.
- She even has her two handmaids betrayed and killed by the soldiers.
- After The Night of Flames, she has Rosaria annexed by Sanbreque, marries its Emperor Sylvestre Lesage, betrays her people and rules over Rosaria as a brutal tyrant. Under her rule, the predicament of the common people drastically deteriorates with heavy taxation and surveillance of the residents of Rosaria beings instituted and she has anyone who disagrees with her reign killed by a knight order formed by her called the Black Shields.
- She starts manipulating her new husband to become more tyranical against his own people, tries to turn him against his own son to make her own child the two of them made his new heir, convinces him to start wars for conquest with neighboring nations which leave many people dead.
- She conducted mass cullings and purges of Bearers on Rosaria's territory, targeting not only the Bearers themselves but anyone who would shelter them.
- As ruler of Rosaria, she has committed so many atrocities against the people and was so cruel to them that a rebellion movement called the Guardians of the Flame was started which was made up of people who once served under Elwin.
- She claims that she committed her crimes because she felt shame that the nobles beneath her laughed that Elwin's firstborn son was surely the son of a concubine and not her own when he didn't inherit the power of the Phoenix and that she couldn't stand to be slandered by one's "inferiors" which is a weak excuse for her actions because she betrayed her own family who didn't do anything to her, her actions are motivated by a superiority complex and lust for power and Clive doesn't sympathize with her, at all, when he hears her reasons and calls her out.
What Prevents Her from Being Pure Evil?[]
- While she hates her firstborn son Clive for not inheriting the powers of the Phoenix and abuses him, she genuinely loves her son Olivier, the child she has with Emperor Sylvestre Lesage. She acts protective towards him and has an emotional breakdown when he is killed in front of her and starts crying over his corpse. His death breaks her so much that she goes insane, starts seeing visions, screams that this is all just a bad dream and kills herself out of grief. She also seems to care about Joshua as she constantly worries about his poor health. After the Night of Flames she believes that Joshua has been killed and when she is confronted by Clive years later, she says that she had given orders to her soldiers to spare Joshua, that she never meant to hurt him, calls him "her darling boy" and gets angry at Clive because he survived while the only one she truly cared for died. when Clive tells her that Joshua is still alive, she has a hopeful expression on her face.
