He is the High Praetor of the titan Indoline, who rules the Indoline Prateorium country. Being the main driver of Fan le Norne, Minoth and Malos, he presents himself as a respectable leader who desires to end the destructive actions of the Torna group. However, he in reality wants to erase them to extend into his real goal of destroy everything in the world, believing to be The Architect's will, having been responsible for many tragedies in the game, such as killing the survivors of Torna.
He is voiced by Junichi Suwabe in Japanese and Corey Johnson in English.
His Evil Ranking[]
What Makes Him Close to Being Pure Evil?[]
- He awakened Malos after climbing the World Tree, and due to his ideologies, corrupted him into hating humans as well, with both having a desire of destroying humanity.
- Due to this, he indirectly caused the Aegis War, an event that sunk an entire titan to the cloud sea, and many deaths. And subsequently, all of the other stuff he does in the game.
- After the Aegis War, he poisoned the previous High Praetor to take his position.
- Collected many Core Crystals and made it illegal to use them without being registered in the Praetorium.
- This in fact would cause the Titans to die off without having anyone to replace them, due to Amalthus slowing down the process of Blades eventually becoming Titans.
- With these Core Crystals, he would later experiment on many young subjects with them, creating some Blade Eaters, before killing them off, leaving a young Mikhali the only survivor.
- Made an assault on Spessia, which caused Lora, Jin's previous driver, to die and would cause Jin to eat her heart, becoming a Flesh Eater in the process.
- Awakened Haze's core crystal, renaming her Fan le Norne, and secretly taking half of her core crystal inside of him, transforming himself into a blade eater.
- Sent Rex's group to Tantal, to send the leader a letter of blackmail to give him an important item or else he would reveal a secret inside the Tantal lineage.
- When Rex's group took too long on taking care of the Torna group, Amalthus decided to use Fan le Norne's remaining half core crystal and use it to immobilize both groups, and move the Titans unto the World Tree, not caring how they were in the process of dying, to attack and kill the Torna group, and after Rex betrayed him, Rex's group too.
- Forces Mikhali to use his Torna warship to stop the titan Indol from attacking anymore, making him force to sacrifice himself.
- Did not bother in evacuating anyone from Indol when he decided to attack the World Tree, so after it was sunk to stop it from attacking anymore, it presumably killed the many who didn't manage to escape.
- Absorbed all of the core crystals he had on his possession, transforming himself into a monstrous new form.
- Killed Patroka and Akhos to absorb their core crystals and planned to kill Rex's group and Jin with his newfound form.
- Planned to kill everyone in Alrest, due to him viewing it as The Architect's will.
- Forces Jin to sacrifice himself to stop him, by using the remaining ether he had into one last attack, killing him.
- Does not regret any of his evil actions even in death.
What Prevents Him from Being Pure Evil?[]
- He has a tragic backstory where he had been exposed to many people who committed horrible things around him, including bandits killing his mother, a guy he treated his wounds over killing and robbing a house and people trafficking blades as sex slaves, which caused his nihilistic and misanthropic worldview of Alrest, with his only comfort being that he was enacting the will of the Architect.
- This extends to having a sympathetic death, as sad music plays, he is seen desperately calling for the Architect to answer him, and in his final moments, he is reunited with his mother after all those years without her comfort. Zeke expresses sympathy for Amalthus during his final moments as well.
- He loved his mother even after dozens of years of having lost her, as we see in his death, where he is seen being reunited with his mother, mentioning that he missed her.
- He once saved Zeke's life when he was extremely injured by giving him part of Pandoria's core. The reason he did this was because he took sympathy on him because he reminded him of when his mother was killed. This moment doesn't truly get subverted as he only fights with him one time and doesn't explicitly regret this.
