Aloysius Minch is the secondary antagonist of Saori Kumi's official Mother 2 Novelization of the video game of the same name.

He is the abusive and greedy father of Pokey and Picky Minch, as well as neighbor and rival of Ness. R and his family. He is the most feared businessman in Eagleland who owns Minch Market and Ness Burger as an extension. Once his son becomes Giygas' vessel, he partners with him and takes advantage of Fourside until he gets caught and dies later.

What Makes Him Close to Being Pure Evil?[]

He is a cruel businessman who treats his own employees horribly and has evidently commited tax evasion, embezzlement and fraud. He is so greedy he wants even more and is also feared in Eagleland due to his reputation despite already being powerful.
He has always been an abusive unloving father to his children, especially Pokey, who he would instead spoil with gifts and cover up his bullying behavior. This would cause him to fall into a depression, leading to him thinking Ness and his family as more of one for him, while also leading to him becoming the sadistic and lonely delinquent he is now.
He regularly stalks Ness's mother, Rachael, trying to invite her on expensive dates, despite both of them being married.
He tricked Ness' father into signing a bad contract so he could enslave him and force him to make burgers 24/7, refusing to let him see his family much to their pain.
He was apathetic when his wife killed Buzz Buzz (though he likely assumed it was just a random bug) and refused to pay Ness reimbursements.
He knowingly opened Bio-Ness Burger in Fourside and sold burgers to the town that were laced with Evil Mani Mani statues that Pokey laced in them, which would cause mass hospitalization, riots and even suicides. While it's unclear how aware Aloysius was of the effects, he at least knew the burgers caused health issues and showed no remorse for ruining Fourside to some degree.
He ignored his sons cries for help when he passed out from sickness and shows more interest in having him become Giygas' vessel for his own benefit.
His death is played with zero sympathy as he starves himself due to his own greed and stupidity, with Pokey marking on his grave that he is rotting in Hell like he should be. Alternative, in the new universe he is arrested for tax crimes and given no sympathy by Picky.
Although he does have comedic moments, they only paint him in a negative light and he is taken seriously by the narrative.
Although he has a few affable moments, such as giving Pokey gifts as a child and thanking Ness for bringing Picky home, these moments are brief and likely fake or subverted, given how manipulative he is.

What Prevents Him from Being Pure Evil?[]

His worst crime suffers from Fridge Horror as it’s unclear how aware he was that his burgers caused mass endangerment in Fourside, given Pokey himself is the one who laced it with the Mani Mani statue and it is never made clear if Aloysius was aware of this. Otherwise enslaving Ness' father, while horrible, is never shown to be outright torturous and his other crimes are generic abuse or offscreen business crimes.
- From an unknowing standpoint, it could be said that while he fails the Heinous Standards to Master Belch who knowingly enslaved several Mr. Saturns he would abuse and threaten to kill then endangered the entire town of Threed with his army. Their resources gap is not that severe because Aloysius is a highly wealthy businessman while Master Belch is just a mook of Giygas generally crueler in every other way.
