NOTE: This article only refers to the book continuity of Aleksei Bessolov, as his video game counterpart is not counted as NPE. Thereby, only information regarding his book appearance will be included here.

Aleksei Feliksovich Bessolov is the main antagonist of the Metro franchise. He serves as the main antagonist of Metro 2035 and the unseen overarching antagonist of the overall series.

He is the leader of the Invisible Watchers, the remnants of the Russian Government, as well as the true creator and leader of the four Moscow Metro factions. He uses his shadowy influence and power as the organisation's leader to manipulate the Moscow Metro's citizens, as well as the factions' leaders all for the sake of population control. Due to this, he is majorly responsible for the events that transpired throughout the series.

His Evil Ranking[]

What Makes Him Close to Being Pure Evil?[]

Metro series[]

  • Responsible for the creation the main Moscow Metro factions in the shadows including Hanza, Red Line, Polis and the Fourth Reich in order to pull strings on them by forcing them to be at internal conflict with each other, irrespective of the massive casualties that would happen on each factions. Such example is during the costly Battle for D6, which led to a Pyrrhic victory for the Spartan Rangers, at a significant cost.
  • Given that Bessolov mainly exists in the novels, he passes the heinous standards of the novel Metro universe, as he does not need to compete with other villains like Klim, The Baron, The Doctor, Anatoly Vinogradov and Tom, who all exist in the video game Metro universe, which is completely separate.

Metro 2035[]

  • Intentionally misled and manipulated the citizens of the Moscow Metro by feeding them propaganda regarding the "ongoing war" between Russia and the Western powers, in order to prevent them from learning the truth of the outside world, as well as life thriving above the surface.
  • Directly responsible for Aleksei "Lyokha" Zvonariov turning on Artyom by joining the Invisible Watchers.
  • His manipulation of the Moscow Metro's citizens at the end of the 2035 novel led to them, including his friend Homer, successfully turning against him and Anna, forcing both of them to exile Moscow by escaping to Vladivostok. This, in return, makes Bessolov a much more serious threat to Artyom.

What Prevents Him from Being Pure Evil?[]

  • Bessolov's goals of population control on the Moscow Metro, albeit portrayed pragmatically by actively covering up the truth regarding the above surface, is a minor prevention, as he does this in order to prevent Moscow Metro from being attacked by bandits and various hostile organisations, as well as ensuring the survival of the inhabitants of the Metro.

Trivia[]

  • Bessolov is the only Near Pure Evil character in the Metro series.
