Akan is the main antagonist of the 2016 science-fiction action film Hardcore Henry. He is a psychic warlord hellbent on conquering the world with his army of cyborg clones.

He was portrayed by Danila Kozlovsky.

His Evil Ranking[]

What Makes Him Close to Being Pure Evil?[]

  • Relishes in the pain and suffering of others.
  • Before the story begins, Akan hired a scientist named Jimmy to create cybernetic clones to serve as his army. When these clones did not live up to Akan's expectations, he sadistically snapped Jimmy's spine using his psychic powers. Leaving Jimmy paralyzed from the neck down.
  • Recruited injured soldiers against their will. By erasing their memories, rebuilding them as cyborgs, and having his wife, Estelle, pose as theirs as a form of manipulation.
  • Buys out the Moscow Police to serve as his personal mercenaries.
  • When Henry confronts him after a car chase, he threatens to beat Estelle with a baseball bat unless Henry volunteers to take her place.
  • Hacks into Henry's vision to locate Jimmy and his clones.
  • Reveals the truth about Estelle to Henry, mocking him for believing she was ever his wife.
  • Killed his remaining cyborg henchmen so he could take on Henry himself.
  • Kicked Henry in the face after giving him a breaking speech, on how everything Henry did was according to Akan's plan. Leaving the titular hero devastated.
  • Though his immaturity can be comedic at points, Akan is taken seriously by the story. If anything, his comedic moments only show how sadistic he is.
  • Or though he arguably had a tragic backstory with being born during the Chernobyl crisis, his mother dying at childbirth and being born with melanin due to the Chernobyl crisis and suffered cancer before his first birthday. One top of that his foster father not giving him genuine love and instead conducted experimental therapy on him which arguably shaped Akan into the monster he became. None of these excuses his actions and plans for world domination.

What Prevents Him from Being Pure Evil?[]

  • Akan genuinely loves Estelle, though he acts perverted towards her around Henry and threatens her with a bat. However, this is only an act to get Henry riled up, and it's implied he wouldn't have threatened her if he wasn't sure Henry would take her place. During the climax, he praises Estelle for a job well done and she's the only person he shows any compassion towards.

Trivia[]

  • To fit the first-person shooter theme of Hardcore Henry, Akan resembles a video game villain.
