~ Aida as Ophelia. |
Aida, also abbreviated as A.I.D.A. (Artificially Intelligent Digital Assistant), also known be her Framework counterpart names, Madame HYDRA and Ophelia, is a major antagonist in Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.. She appears as a minor character in Season 3, the main antagonist of Season 4 and a posthumous antagonist in Season 5.
She is a Life-Model Decoy created by the S.H.I.E.L.D. affiliated scientist Holden Radcliffe who modelled her after the terminally ill love of his life. She starts out as a supporting ally of S.H.I.E.L.D. in the Ghost Rider arc but becomes a secondary antagonist in the LMD arc when Radcliffe betrays S.H.I.E.L.D. to further his scientific projects and safe his love. She in the end becomes the main antagonist of the final arc of the season and shows herself to be much worse than Radcliffe.
In Season 3, she was voiced by Amanda Rea. In Season 4, she is portrayed by Mallory Jansen.
Her Evil Ranking[]
What Makes Her Close to Being Pure Evil?[]
- Multiple times ignores Radcliffe's orders to not kill any S.H.I.E.L.D. agents such as Agent Nathanson.
- Replaces almost all members of Coulson's team with LMD's while sending them into the framework,
- Puts Anton Ivanov’s head into a jar and gives it control over an army of LMDs.
- Betrays and murders her creator Holden Radcliffe and traps his consciousness in the framework.
- Turns the framework which Radcliffe envisioned as a deathless utopia into a horrible HYDRA dictatorship under her rule. The crimes she commits there include:
- Children who have critical opinions on HYDRA are taken from their schools and cruelly brainwashed in a method developed by Daniel Whitehall.
- Inhumans are hunted and when captured brutally drained of their powers in a process that essentially tortures them to death.
- Hydra lies to the public about history and portrays people like Daniel Whitehall and John Garret as heroes.
- Has Sunil Bakshi lie to the public about Jeffrey Mace as "hating [America]" and having "a flagrant disregard for human life"
- S.H.I.E.L.D. has been wiped out and most S.H.I.E.L.D. agents were murdered.
- She brainwashes Leo Fitz into being her lover, her right-hand man and a sadistic psychopath with zero regard for human life through an alternate version of his abusive father who molded him into this monstrous person. This not only is essentially rape but has an traumatic effect on Fitz when he learns all the horrible things he did.
- In a similar note she manipulates Agent May into being her servant through making her believe HYDRA makes the world a better place while not telling her about the worst crimes of her regime.
- Has Radcliffe's love murdered in front of him by Fitz (his best friend) and then lets him be tortured out of spite.
- Orders Fitz to send an airstrike on a re-education center full of children to kill a few insurgents.
- This directly kills Jeffrey Mace in both the Framework and the real world. His body is then mutilated on Aidas orders so it seems that Daisy quaked him to death.
- She has Daisy get tortured by Fitz.
- While at first seemingly redeeming herself after gaining a human body she has a villainous breakdown when she learns Fitz doesn't love her and screams at him that they will create a life together whether he wants to or not, strongly implying she intends to rape him. She then goes on a homicidial rampage against Coulson's team and Talbot's soldiers.
- Deletes the Framework out of spite killing billions of people and her own HYDRA subordinates (While it's somewhat discussed inside the show to what extent the people there are sentient even ordinary citizens were shown to be capable of free will and rebellion against Hydra making it pretty unlikely that they weren't sentient).
- Tries to transform earth into the dictatorship shown in the framework with the use of the Darkhold.
- To accomplish this she has a Daisy LMD shoot Talbot in the head and then later sadistically tries to get it to kill Daisy so she can watch her "kill herself".
- Sadistically kills what she believes to be Jemma Simmons in front of Fitz.
- While she blamed Radcliffe for all her actions in the Framework this excuse was shown to be obviously ridiculous when she claimed the Framework was just "as he intended" while he was tortured under her command screaming how he didn't intend any of this. It is crystal clear that Radcliffe wanted it to be "a happily ever after" (as he put it), and its clear Aida had at least enough of an agency to know right from wrong that betraying Radcliffe and corrupting the framework was wrong.
What Prevents Her from Being Pure Evil?[]
- She has some agency issues as she at first doesn't have any real emotions and is clearly driven insane by them once she gets them.
