Admiral Razorbeard, or simply addressed as Razorbeard, is a major antagonist in the Rayman video game series. He is a power-hungry and despotic warlord as well as the supreme commander of the Robo-Pirates.

His Evil Ranking[]

What Makes Him Close to Being Pure Evil?[]

  • He is established from the beginning as a universally notorious warlord and conveyed in the manual to have destroyed over 100 planets.
  • He intends on overrunning Rayman's world and reduce all its inhabitants to slavery, having started this off by kidnapping many creatures and turning them into slaves. Their conditions show them trapped in cages, reaching out, begging for help, and asking for water in the intro. By the climax of the game, he's enslaved over 45,000 creatures.
  • He has his soldiers capture Rayman intending to execute him.
  • Orders his soldiers to destroy the heart of Rayman's world, resulting in a loss of the loss of magic as well as the 1,000 yellow lums to scatter across the land. He also does this knowing it would make the denizens easier to capture due to their decrease in hope and energy.
  • Has his soldiers capture Ly the Fairy and lock away her in one of his dangerous strongholds.
  • Frequently targets Rayman directly throughout the story and constantly sends out his soldiers on missions to kill him.
  • As shown whenever they fail to kill or capture Rayman for him, Razorbeard often abuses and threatens them when he gets to locations he tries to stop him from getting to.
  • He goes as far as having bombs rain down on peaceful lands in his attempts to kill Rayman.
  • He has his pirates capture Carmen the Whale, a sapient animal, for her blubber to oil the engines in his ship.
  • Eats one of the yellow lums, reducing them from 1,000 to 999.
  • He has hundreds of children be kidnapped, intending to force them into labor in the mines, further proving he is not above child slavery.
  • Attempts to test out his Biditank on one of the helpless captured children.
  • Brainwashes Rayman's friend Clark into trying to kill him.
  • Purchases the Grolgoth from the General, openly stating to him his intention of killing Rayman and everyone he loves with it.
  • When given the update by the Spyglass Pirate that Rayman had gotten all 4 masks, he threatens to punish him before instead for the time being ordering him to prepare the Grolgoth.
  • Has his soldiers capture and tie up Globox on his ship to lure Rayman into place intending to kill both of them.
  • Upon noticing Rayman right in place attempting to rescue Globox, he launches a fireball from his Grolgoth in an attempt to kill them. Under the impression he had succeeded, he also makes a sadistic and cruel remark in that he's now alone for eternity.
  • Engages in chaotic battle with Rayman, even blowing up his ship in one last attempt to kill him, thus taking the rest of his crew still on board with it.
  • Although he ultimately fails in his goals, he ends off as a Karma Houdini, as at the end of the day he faces no consequences for his heinous actions.
    • Unlike the other versions, however, in the PS2 and PS1 versions Razorbeard is not seen escaping during the end credits, making his final fate, whether he survived the explosion of his ship or not, unclear (he would have very unlikely survived in the other versions where he is seen surviving, since the countdown for the self-destruction of the Grologoth was shockingly short, only 5 seconds).
    • While he has comedic moments like throwing an tantrum when Rayman finds an mask and screaming likes an child after falling off his ship,it doesn’t distract him from his villainy.

What Prevents Him from Being Pure Evil?[]

  • The crimes which could make him heinous enough rely either on offscreen villainy or Fridge Horror:
    • His act of destroying over 100 planets relies on offscreen villainy as it's only conveyed to happen through a text in the manual.
    • Him destroying the heart of the Glade and his slavery suffer slight Fridge Horror, as although the slaves are implied to be in horrible conditions briefly in the intro, the full extent isn't shown.
  • In the PlayStation version, he shown to respect Ninjaws and upon seeing him returns greats him with excitement and was furious when Rayman killed him.
