| ā | We can win a war against the humans. Not only because we have the support of Hazel's master, but because the Faunus are the dominant species of this planet. We're better than humans. We have everything humans have and more. Humans shouldnāt just fear the Faunus, they should serve the Faunus. | ā |

| ~ Adam telling Blake why he wants revenge on her |
Adam Taurus is a major antagonist in the RWBY franchise. He is the arch-nemesis of both Blake Belladonna (as well as her ex-boyfriend and former mentor) and Yang Xiao Long.
A malevolent, sadistic, and spiteful bull Faunus, Adam thought the world owed him for being abused by society. In his own twisted sense of justice, Adam claimed to be fighting for Faunus equality when is actuality, he wanted to subjugate the humans to slavery and to eradicate those who stood in his way to satisfy his desire.
He was voiced by Garrett Hunter and by Yūichi Nakamura in the Japanese dub.
His Evil Ranking[]
What Makes Him Close to Being Pure Evil?[]
In General[]
- He never truly loved or cared about Blake and had only manipulated her to stay by his side, as pointed out by Yang asking if she made a promise to him or the person he was pretending to be.
- He also seemed to take pleasure in physically and mentally abusing Blake at times.
- While he did originally care about his fellow Faunus when he joined the White Fang, he slowly became more sadistic and willing to kill more humans after he was praised by his fellow White Fang members for killing one to protect Ghira, and wanted to enslave humanity so the Faunus would reign supreme out of spite, therefore subverting this kind of redeeming quality as result.
- In spite of the high heinous standard, he stands out for his pivotal role in corrupting the White Fang into a terrorist faction and personal villainy toward Blake and Yang while having less resources than more powerful villains like Salem and Cinder Fall.
The Beacon Volumes (Vol 1-3)[]
- He committed multiple terrorist acts with no consideration for any of the innocent civilians, all the while covering them up by posing as a well-intentioned extremist.
- He had allied with Cinder Fall to perpetuate her plans while also aiding her schemes by allowing her to use his White Fang subordinates for her schemes in exchange for resources to support their cause.
- He took part in the Fall of Beacon by unleashing a horde of Grimm onto the city during the Vytal Festival.
- He tried to kill Blake all because he wanted revenge for her turning on him, when in reality, his abuse of her is what drove her away from him in the first place.
- Before attempting to murder her in cold blood, Adam swore to her that he would stop at nothing to destroy everything she loved (which he repeatedly proved multiple times later in the series).
- He sliced off Yang's arm during one of his attempts at killing Blake, almost killing both of them. This caused Yang to be traumatized by the incident.
The Anima Volumes (Vol 4-6)[]
- He murdered Sienna Khan in cold blood and usurped her position as the High Leader of the White Fang.
- He sent Corsac and Fennec Albain to Menagerie in a attempt to assassinate Blakeās parents Ghira and Kali Belladonna.
- He led a White Fang attack on Haven Academy in an attempt to destroy it, and even tried to detonate explosives to kill himself, Blake, all of the other Faunus present (including the ones that were part of the White Fang) and everyone there.
- He slaughtered several of his former followers of the White Fang when they questioned his actions at Haven.
- After attempting to destroy Haven, he returned to stalking Blake in his attempts to murder her as revenge for her "ruining his life" which in actuality was something that he brought upon himself.
- He refused to take Yang's advice on leaving her and Blake alone and abandoning his need for vengeance, trying to kill both girls one final time before his demise.
What Prevents Him from Being Pure Evil?[]
- He is genuinely tragic. His past is that he was mistreated by humans for most of his life and was a miner who worked for the Schnee Dust Company against his will, and when he had an argument with a superior, he got the company's logo branded on his eye by Jacques Schnee which scarred him. While his villainy nearly outweighs his tragedy, it's still a fairly sympathetic backstory and motivates his actions in the first place.
- His character short even shows that he used to be a good person before his mind was warped by his fellow Faunus praising him as a "hero" for killing a human to defend Ghira with him being horrified at his mistake.
- His death is played for sympathy despite being warranted, as when Blake and Yang impale him with Gambol Shroud, the music cuts off as he slowly walks over to the cliff and quietly accepts his fate before falling into the waterfall below. Upon seeing this, Blake breaks down in tears about being forced to murder the man she once looked up to as Yang comforts her.
Trivia[]
- He used to be Pure Evil for a long time until it was decided that he is too tragic to count, causing him to be removed and approved as Near Pure Evil.
